Reasons why NOT TO compare Yoshiki with other drummer!

ps: pls excuse that dude's math too, he doesnt know what is six and what is eight.

Yup.... he always mixes the 6's and 8's and mess up all the beats... lucky he got good guitarist/basses and keyboardists to cover him up....

huahahuahuahuahua...... sorry, cannot help it....

agree ... i really love yoshiki too... saw his drum solo.. can see more anger in him than skills.. watching the solo is like watch 10 super dramatics episodes of sad shows at one go ..

did he ever broke a part of the drumset while playing ? he really whacks hard!

hahaha. thats the funniest post ever..

erh... portnoy plays drum for the sake of playing.(i noe he's very good) but i think yoshiki uses drumming as one of the source to vent his anger.he is the one who steered x-japan to big success.in terms of creativity, yoshi doesn't really show on drums but his composing and piano skills.. how cool is that?

crucifymylove i understand the enthusiasm in sharing about jrock and visual kei music like DEG and X Japan.

there are people here who are not interested in knowing about them as well.

just 2 say something...
X japan's music is different....

Yoshiki is worshipped in japan.... He even wrote a song for the Japan Emperor..

Anyway whether he is technical or not doesnt even matter.. Its nice and many ppl acknowlegdes it...

also i believe that its his style of drumming dat has made him very popular among the audience... he is really a serious person about music... i heard he even hurt his wrist playing the piano while practising v hard in 2002 and had to wear some kind of a wrist support...

he works he ass off for music he believes in , and me as an x japan fan , aims to let as many ppl realise his efforts...

lol had to edit my post realised it was too harsh ..

Yoshiki made me want to pick up drums.

that is something Lars Ulrich, Mike Portnoy, Travis Barker or any other drummer could not do. 8)

yea me too.... it was when i first saw THe art of life that made me feel drum playing can be really nice...

I ve seen all those complex solos before but was never that impressed till yoshiki....

Now as i learn more... i begin to appreciate the other drummers as well...

His head bobbing/shaking is the best i have seen so far... none could do it as beautifully as him especially at the slow parts of art of life... its like a performance by itself.... Its not nice if u sit there like a stone...

also realise there wasnt any outstanding players in X...( maybe taiji) there were great in their fields, but when they came together the chemistry was unbelieveable... Toshi's powerful vocals. backed by the seamless playing of Pata and hide... yoshiki's hard but soulful drumming.... heath is barely passable( haha)

notice how the fact hitting the drums real hard makes the song sound angry at certain parts....

i ve seen some clinics with some wierd odd beat ( like 5 beat kinda thing i dunno) i would say these guys are techinically gd at drums, while yoshiki is better at bringing out the feelings of drums( in fact the piano too) ...

watching art of life is like a roller coaster ride... its like u just watched ur best movie, read your best book , had sex with the most beautiful gal in the world....
exceptional musical....

although different ppl different taste. i hope more ppl will take a closer look at them...

so u watched art of life too? haha.. good. u should watch X with Orchestra 1991. That is another concert that Yoshiki plays like crazy.

The best drum solo ive ever seen is the Drum Solo that Yoshiki plays in ~EYES OF VENUS 92~ (not the one verge of destruction, although that one is good but i think eyes of venus version is better) the one with Tetsuya Komura,

the best drum works for yoshiki is Kurenai, Silent Jealousy and Eyes of Venus.

If you heard Eyes of Venus there is this ebat that Yoshii use ONCE and never use again in any other of his song. You surely know Yoshiki's beat rite the one that he plays for ALLLLL X japan ballads and rock songs except in the song X.

in eyes of venus i notice theres another nice beat yoshiki create but he only used for that song.

yoshiki develop the hand sickness that common for most pianist, its a disease for too much practicing piano.

glad i know another yoshiki fans.

sorry for my english.

i know which beat u talking about!!! very unique beat that is very hard to catch and learn.

i hated the singing though.

the eyes of venus, tetsuya sing like duck siall.. i hear the sing 1 1/2sian liao.. like ppl hear the vocalist of eden of rebirth sing .. hehehehhee VIO.. im not sarcastic.. tis true its true.. lol~~

oh yeah, and the unique beat that one.. nice beat .. his trademark. but he onlt use once.. sad!

i know u worship yoshiko, there's nothing to compare actually. ur favourite band of course u fight for them la
