rap

Not another one of these type of questions...

What do YOU think of rap and rappers in general?

they're alright. I just can't stand the ones who claim "Black" (negro/african american) when they're malay/indian. or worse chinese. hah.

10¢ worth

imho, and under no influence of anything but the wandering subconscious thought of nothing at all!

musicality of rap is as similar to looking at beauty of men and women from different ethnic group. Within each level, contain element of

1) substance
2) structure
3) frequency

all this three will combine together, inorder to form the end product that we see or hear. While the end product is of fixed constant progression, but we, as the listener or the observer of beauty within diffferent ethnic group is a roving variable.

This roving variable factor determined our ablity to appreciate or denounce rap music or beauty of different ethnic group. Theres ART within each format when the frequency of the mentioned music/group coincide with our state of mind at any given time. But then, most of the time, the frequency that we have naturally often reject things that unfamilar to us in the form of action/words, "sucks, rubbish, fugly, ugly, substanceless" etc.

In short, the failure to appreciate something we cant understand, often has no connection to the inner substance of these "fixed progression end product", but more to do with our wandering inadequate roving variables of one self character.

raps are made to express one's feeling towards someone or something. jus for example , lets take EMINEM for an instance , or mah man PROOF (RIP) , every single rap of theirs has its own meaning. its like , thats the only way they can express how they feel. the lyrics of every songs. and the way they express it , its pretty awesome. some thing like " Proof put a G in the alphabet " and G is for Gangsta. so its like , pretty cool. Tupac too. well , great rappers have to die fast. i like raps as much as metal . its jus my opinion. u gotta take a look at the lyrics of these legends. but of course there're some bullshit ones la. hahah.

I like rappers who make good music.. Of course, who doesnt?
Rappers like Eminem make you think and reflect, while others like Ludacris, Fat Joe and Freeway is nice to hear once in a while..
I just can't stand the radio ones, those who have forgotten the spirit behind hip hop..
Songs about women (not love) gets old, and I hate music videos where they portray women as objects..
Oh well, this is only me I suppose..

yeah +1 to Godspeed64.

rappers like eminem are the real rappers while others are like wrappers.rap about crap and nothing else but crap.these kinda artist has made the whole genre look like crap.

heh, maybe theres none, if one is used to the sense of notes and progression used in music based on the scale, intervals etc

what they have, is the attitude, beats and words to lead the direction.

women?money?cars?sex?

that is the only thing i know about rap.dont think they got any attitude or whatsoever.and i hate those bling-blings.look like they won some olympic gold medal or silver medal.

rap also got different level, like rock music.

what we see rap in the media, radio etc, are those like hair rock, sleezy rock of the 1980s...

theres a need to be shocking, provocative, inorder to sell..

rap doesnt start out as gangs, whorehouse, bliing bling or big cars..just that halfway thru, it branches out to various form.

hehe, i dont know much about rap also, but from talking to some people who listen one thing or two into those, there seem another side which is not from your typical 'seen on mtv, heard on radio" kinda rap. It cud be as underground as some rock music can be, i guess.
