Question about single pedals

Hi everyone, just switch to analogs and there are some things which i'm rather unsure of. Hope you guys can clarify it for me. :D

1) Since these analogs can be either operated by using the battery or power supply right, anyone can tell me what kind of adapter must I get for the pedal? I heard of one spot adapter, but is it safe to use? Will it damage my effect? Where can I get it if it's useable?

2) Does it mean that if I have 1 pedal, I'll get 1 adapter, and if i have 2 pedals, I must get another adapter to power it? Or is there some ways to link both of them together and use the same adapter?

Yeap, that's about all I wanna know for now. I'll post more if I have any other questions later. Thanks!

Hi there :D

So far the one spot is quite safe I guess, I'm sure alot of us are using it currently and so far no issues.

Assuming you're gonna use the one-spot, you'll just need one of it to power up all your pedals.

You need to get the daisy chain in order to power the other pedals with one one spot.

heres a link

http://www.visualsound.net/1spot.htm

But then its best to use another one-spot adapter solely for your time based effects like delay...etc...cos sometimes theres a slight noise issue when its shared...

You can get the onespot adapter at G77 at peninsular, or you could try getting it from www.mrmisse.com

cheers :D

Oh, so I'll just get the 1spot adaptor from g77? And if I have to power other pedals I'll just buy the daisy chain?

May I know how much does it cost then? Probably gonna get one later... Thanks for the info! :D

The common power supply like OneSpot is meant to drive pedals with the 9volt DC requirement. Please take note of polarity when operating DC equipments (the + and -) must go the right direction.

Its the current (driving force) which dictate how many pedals can be put on the same line. You can get the cable convertor to many heads to put to multiple pedals.

hum or buzz can occur due to various reasons, such as ground loop difference, sensitivity, incompatibility, poor regulation...etc... Remedy for this also vary with situation, in some cases no remedy is possible other than removing the offending device.

You can always bring your pedals to a reputable dealer of the power supply. Ask nicely when they are free, I am sure most will go thru with you to test your setup. I think this is the best way.

The one spot will provide 9V power, and the daisy chain links all the pedals to that same power source. Most of the time the pedals aren't picky and don't mind sharing the same power source.

That aside, not all single pedals are analog and not all multi pedals are digital. Just to clarify since your title said single pedals but your post said analogs. Either way, power is power.

If you get good power, hum free and stuff, more power to you.

I use 2 1Spots for quieter operation. My modulation/delay/chorus pedals sometimes cause my drive pedals to have wierd sounds, hence 2 1Spots.

Wow, I thought analogs and single pedals meant the same thing!

Do you mind elaborating on this please? Sorry total n00bness on this lol.

Someone tell me how much does the adaptor cost as well please! :)

Digital means breaking a signal into 1's and 0's, playing around with them, then turning them back into sound.

Analog means just taking the signal and massaging it. I've posted waveforms that show the difference between the two before, somewhere in the archives if you dig deep enough.

Analog is how the world is run, when you wave your hand, that's analog.
Digital is how we simplify the world so that we can put it onto paper or into computers. When you draw your hand on 100 slides each slightly different, then scan through the slides quickly so that it looks like your hand is waving, that's digital.

Digital allows more room for manipulation, but some say sterile on some effects like distortion or overdrive.

Erm, i'm rambling. Digital and analog is a huge subject, it would be better if you ask specifically and I or the others answer.

hmm, ill let the techies here explain on the more technical aspects in better detail.

the onespot retails for SGD 35, daisy chain at SGD 15. :D

Hurry!

While stocks last! :D

the way to the future is digital controlled analogue pedals.

eg, signal path goes thro only the analogue circuit.

All other parameters controlled digitally.

The controls can be MASSIVE but its not fun anymore for the builder.

Stay away from analog pedals ....they are addictive and will mess your head frequencies ....and burn a huge hole in your pocket !! Stick to your tube peamped ..digital multies or whatever they have nowadays...you will have a better life ....
now that a sound techy advice....

I still waiting to exchange my 30 lucky draw tabs for a rmc2 from misseboss....when will that day come?

Eh eh, you free come try lah. Today I on mc. :P

But RMC 2 no vomit leh. Or rather, its a rounded treble, so vomit sounds... hmmm.... a bit hard.

Check out Randolf's modded wahs, or soemthing I think is totally cool, the Homebrew Electronics Medicine Brawl. TOTALLY chromed casing. Quite cheap too.

Pity Randolf doesn't do chroming...

Chrome = Tone.

Believe, I exchanged all my antique silver hardware to chrome on my guitar? 150% increase in tone.

Thats why players with chrome guitars, Satch, Vai, Sheehan, Matt Bellany (counts no?) etc etc, have so much more tone and mojo.

Argh. Off to see the doctor.

Dear Hellmurderer,

:D

Please do not believe him.

Chrome does not equals to tone.

This is a classic example of what that happens when you become an analogue pedal user.

Yes, we will all be heading to woodbridge soon. :D
