Quality of MIM Fenders?

The Fat Strat I saw in Swee Lee was pretty bad. The metal for the 5-way switch was corroded!
Those of you who own MIM Fenders can you share your experiences?
Thanks.

the rust & ill-maintenance of display models aren't attributable to the manufacturer, definitely.

in general, the MIM had come a long way, they've gone up in terms of workmanship * tone throughout the years, which speaks volumes- mex fenders aren't cosmetically enhanced rejects. they are very functional units, just a little compromised in terms component grades.

my praise goes to the satin-finished Std mex strats & the Classic series, especialy the ash-bodied 70s model.

I don't think luther has the mexican units anymore. .

you are right abt Luther Music not having any more MIM Fenders. In fact, they don't carry any more MIJ Fenders as well. All sold out!

My only gripe about the MIJ Fenders is the 7.25" fingerboard radius, vintage sized fretwire and 21 frets. For a few bucks more, Reverend guitars are DA BOMB!!!

Hahaha... talking about the fretwire... I dunno why but the fretwire on my MIM Fender loses its shine quite early, have to keep polishing to keep it shiny.

Haha, fatter the neck, the more "shiok" the feel. Nothing ever beats having meat in your hands while doing long tiring shred runs. Extremely thin necks = cramps = no no :smt035

Let me tell a story here

Back last december i sold my old guitar (Epi LP) Felt very empty. Went to Swee lee.Looked around at the display.Asked the sales person what o reccomend. Asked about the MIM Strats. Recieved warm comments. Asked to go into glass room. recieved super comments about the MIA strats.Throw in super attentive sevice and a great sounding test amp. Was instantly smittened.

Here`s how i would describe my MIA:

"I feel empty if i do not hold her every day."

The feeling is just different compared to those MIMs hanging outside.

the American Series strat i tried since its intro in 2001 feels the works but the tone is a little lacking. it's especially compressed tonally, i avoided them until the 50th Anniversary version came along. the diff pickups appeal more to me, the ash body contributes to tone & sustain.

i got a MIM fat strat with floyd rose.. and its very well built and well sounding guitar.. the stock pickups are superb and the tunings stay in tune no matter how i wack the floydrose..hmm.. thats about it..
