They will be in stock again at the end of July...
If you wish to have one, I recommend you to preorder. If you preorder,

a lil bit out of the topic, during the past few days ive been in and out of ishibashi (yes, im in tokyo now as i type this). i was walking around the ochanomizu district, where there are more guitar shops available..

this is my only conclusion about ishibashi:

some of the stuff are over priced.
there are more cheaper stuffs available from the other shops.

case in reference: i jus bought a couple of Ibanez LU-20 Tuner
few of the other shop where selling it for like 3200-3500 yen.
ishibashi? 4500yen.

jus my opinion
anyway, konichiwa!!!!!!

ive yet to venture into the shinjuku and shibuya districts where apparently there are hordes of guitar shop as well!

Thanks for the input man. Maybe you can help us by noting down what are the shops that sell cheaper/good stuffs and where they are located. It will be useful information for those who are going Japan.

Because there arent many online shops that sell guitar. Ishibashi just happen to be one of them that has good reputation and the price are reasonable. Even cheaper than the shops here. :?

dearxarson: you could be a soft legend if you would compile all the japan lobangs for reference of all travelling softies :D

i wouldn't be surprised, some of the listed retail prices are no small sums...

but somehow when you order from the webshop it gets marked down big time. this is on top of the fact that export items are not charged japanese domestic tax.

i've surfed other japanese webshops but never considered ordering from them for fear of being the first singaporean to be burned by them  and the prices are more or less the same

but i dunno about japan lah, i never even been there, hope to one day, konichiwa kimochi and all.

but glad to have ordered a PIECE OF JAPAN

hey i jus got back from japan
didnt really buy much, but here's a list of my loots:

fender japan jazzmaster cream 71000yen
Ibanez LU-20 x 2 (for bro goose and me) = 4100 each
pacifix the great deciever phaser 8300yen

hhmm, actually all someone has to do in tokyo japan to get good deals is to go to ochanomizu station (thru JR Yamanote line, NOT the tokyo subway) and take the ochanomizu exit. turn left, and you will see a whole stretch of guitar/other musical instruments shop along both sides of the road. what i did was i went in EVERY shop and compared prices. warning though: make sure you have ample time in hand, and also the damn town has a NO SMOKING ON THE STREETS law. i actually got reprimanded by a street cop hah. i saw a few vintage stuff in one of the shops. cant really remember the names, and the greco guitars, oh my god! the prices are enough to send you into a hissy fit. hah.

big boss shop has a lot of english speaking sales people.. ishibashi has a lot of young teenagers working for them..

there are a few otehr shops at shinjuku and shibuya, but they are harder to find. i found a couple of shops at shinjuku, but the prices were high compared to the shops at ochanomizu. there's GUITAR VOX at akihabara (electric city)

for the jazzmaster, i had to go and try 3 diff ones in 3 diff shops as every shop said they only have one piece left. so i chosed the best one in my opinion.

i think only ishibashi has duty free for foreigners. the rest of the shops you have to pay the 5%tax, though you can bargain if ur skills are good. i used the calculator trick (they show you the price in the calculator, then you INPUT the price you want till you reach an agreement!)

anyway pedals to look out for: PACIFIX LTD pedals. i saw a Pacifix SDT (Kurt Ballou of CONVERGE swears by this distortion pedal) which costs 22000yen 2nd hand.

Also please double check the voltage of the items you buy ya. i had to return back a BOSS adaptor (thanks to GOOSE for helping me out on this one ya!)

jus bring a big fat thick wallet. trust me, you'll wanna keep going back to the shops everyday.

i really hope this helps alot to you travellers ya.
sorry if i made any errors/caused any doubts,.

i can feel my GAS hitting the peak when i go to ochanomizu. whole stretch of shops sounds crazy 8O

Thanks for providing this information, it will definetly help those going to Japan :D

Enjoy your new toys!

Hello everyone! Saw this discussion about Ochanomizu aka Tea Water.. :P i just came back from Japan 2 days ago, and of course I headed down to Ochanomizu in search for a new guitar!! 8) Boy must I say I was amazed by the amount of guitars and varieties which they have there, the pedals, brands etc...of course it is not hard to find the street once you come out from the JR station, but i took a wrong turn and ended up walking about a 1.5km loop before i reached the guitar paradise.. There are quite a number of shops which can be found there, of course the all common Ishibashi can be found there. Prices wise I don't recommend buying from Ishibashi if you can find your gears somewhere else along the street.. you have to check out the different stores to compare the prices on your own(I spend around 3-4 hours looking around and comparing) 8O Finally I managed to settle for a store with the best price opposite Ishibashi. I got my MIJ Fender strat ST62-78TX / 3TS for around 790 which comes with a whole lot of accessories.. guitar stand, tuner, cable, strap, strings, peg winder and a Fender soft case. Futhurmore I also got a GT-8 hard case for just 30 bucks!! :D Finally i headed down to Ishibashi to grab up to 10 band score books.... :o

Overall, I had a great time there, this is a must-go place for all guitarists who need to get new gears or even just to take a look at the place.. and it is indeed true that you can see almost every teenager be it a boy or girl carrying a guitar around... :D

is sgd 500 for a fender CIJ P Bass cheap? (basswood body). Itchy for a bass even tho i play mostly guitar...

Am iin tokyo now...i think they are having some kinda sale right now. Gibson lesPaul Std also going very cheap, < 200k jpy

Yeah ...thanks bro J ...really appreaciate your kind help getting me the tuner ! Can't wait to try it !!

When you come over, pls bring over the new Jazzmaster ya !! and the BD2 for modz !!
