yo dude... can order online. i saw a pork pie acrylic on musiciansfriend.com and it was quite cheap (not factoring in shipping) comparable with the prices of metal and wooden snares (or cheaper!) found in yamaha and swee lee.

one word of warning - acrylic drums are not for everyone. the sound is very unique and different, so you might wanna find sound clips, or find people who have them and try it out before making the purchase.

acrylic snares/kits tend to sound more open, and resonate more right?
just love the way thomas lang's snare sounds man.

Musician's friend doesn't ship into Singapore =(
I checked out the RCI starlite ones, kns 600+ usd..haha
Hi Nicky. :)

Pork Pie Acrylic Snare.

haha thanks i saw that too and yeahhe doesn't ship here either.
Whats V Post?

ARh...the one i want is the Pork Pie Acrylic Snare Piglite neon green with black rims and lugs. With alot of the vent holes..lol...perhaps a 5x14.

vPost (www.vpost.com.sg) is a service that allows you to get US sellers and merchants to ship your items to a US address and it will then forward the items to you in Singapore for a fee that is weight- and volume-dependent.

Haha my Pork Pie is the one with the 30 vent holes. Sounds great but could do with a mic-up for those outdoor gigs.

acrylic snares, especially pork pie snares have alot of "omph" if u get what i mean, and with the extra depth of pork pie snares,it produces a very unique tone such as the 13 X 7 snares, great for a "gunshot" sounding snare if thats your cup of tea.

besides the thomas lang ones...i've never really heard an acrylic snare before.

( i was interested in a pork pie acrylic snare on musiciansfriend.com too... )

churnz, u got try the snare before? can intro me like some youtube clips or something? i wanna hear man.

any help would be appreciated.

just a rough idea of what it will sound like.

eh but bidding on ebay damn stressed one leh. cannot concentrate in lectures/tutorials in school, then cannot sleep well also will keep waking up to check the bid aha.

MF doesn't ship to SG... but vPost leh? cuz MF will ship to a vPost address, before it's shipped to sg right?

Any bros can clarify this? If that's true, then I might get my stuff from MF... the prices there are WAY cheaper than SG, even if i ship in alone.

yap...MF will ship to the vpost place over there...den vpost usa will send to sg...

tats how i shipped my wuhans ( with some help of course )...but might be a long wait... 2 - 4 weeks..

thanks churnz and mel80 for the heads up. i also have the Mike Portnoy constant motion dvd....his acrylic set sounds nice...but maybe its coz of how the sound engineer did it...

OH BTW: i found this site...gives good samples of some snare drum models...inlcuding an acrylic pork pie 14 x 5.5 http://pdgood.us/index.html

try using Auction Sniper (www.auctionsniper.com) or an equivalent service. i can't eBay without it, haha.

and also, be wary of using vPost to ship from online music retailers like music123 or musiciansfriend, because you have no control over how they package the item. i once bought a piccolo snare off music123 and it came in a large box almost 3 times the height of the drum's box that was inside..that translated to some degree of being ripped off on shipping.
