Hi! I need some ideas on my next amp.
I have a Vox now but I wish to go to full tube. :)

I am looking for a nice modern metal tone.
Not hardcore stuff but going for something like from the band The Hiatus
Song: The Flare - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T48v5digyj0

So... the dudes at Hiatus are using a Diezel amp heads with 4X 12 inches Marshall, Masa/Mesa cabs.(Side note: Masa and Mesa are the same thing? The lead guitarist is Masasucks, so it must be a custom badge.lols)

Really want that sound, but at a reasonable volume.
Is it even possible? I am thinking of 15watts with a phase down to around 7watts for bedroom.

I have looked at;
Orange's Tiny Terror(interesting but no grind, but might be my settings),
Marshalls(I dun know much about their line-up),
Masa/Mesa... (all their smaller amps do not seem to sound as good)

Arrg... pls help.

For low volumes you might have more luck using a nice pedal friendly combo amp clean, and use a pedal for the heavy dirt.

Awesome!!! 0_0 yeah love the sounds of the pedal!
But I still have to try it out first to see how well it reacts to picking dynamics. :)

Yeah I have the AC30VR, great stuff man.
My irritation was that I could not get the tone I want without blowing off the walls of my not so big room. =_=

AC15 Custom is gonna cause an implosion the moment I stop for a drink. haha :)
Yeah, tried that once, though without any pedals.

Is there anywhere I can get something with an attenuator...
I could get a head and run it though an attenuator then sending it to a small cabinet? What do you think? Price is not so much an issue, I am willing to go all out for a dynamic "live" tube tone, minus the volume of course. 0_0
Mmmh come to think of it, it is kinda unreasonable... ^ ^ every amp company is trying to do something like this.

Thanks for your advice again! :)

Edit: Actually... yeah, I gotta seriously chk out the blackstar HT DISTX pedal. it may be the "key". thanks for your very valuable advice.

Attenuators still change the tone of the amp. It sucks to have shitty distortion at low volume. A high gain tube amp with a 4x12 will bound to sound terrible with the gain maxed and the master volume down to nearly zero. No power amp distortion at all. It will not sound good without moving some air.

For the bedroom, a good pedal is still the best solution unfortunately. Many pedals can be dynamic like tube amps. Thats why people pay top dollar for top shelf boutique pedals.

Sweet, confirmation of that "lost of dynamics"!
All Speakers need to be cranked to their sweet spot.
I remember seeing this pedal at peninsular, will invest in some.
This will probably be my first tube pedal. :)

Now... just need some 16 volts AC.

You can find that pedal at Woodworks.

It comes with the 16 volts AC adapter.

you have a vox ac30vr? i am going to buy it soon so it would be greaet to hear what it can do? Good for high gain?

Ahh, the 30VR is a great amp at a great price. :)
I have both the 30 and the 15 actually...

Trying out the 30 at the shop did not sound that loud as compared to in my room.
Got the 15 second hand at a really good price. ;)

I totally recommend it, but why not go full tube?
You should really try it out at city music yourself though.
Dude love recommends the AC customs.
A/B/C test them together with the Night Train.

Its the Vox tone anyways, can't go wrong there~
In regards to High gain, it does not have the sound I wanted(Vox is no Mesa).
I am sure with the distx pedal, it will sing~ :) I will be sticking to my current amps.
But it might just work for you! Don't just take my words. Gotta try them all!

Tell me what you got in the end! :)
