Plexi, Plexi, Plexi!

^ Really? It's never claimed to be able to. Why must every pedal go to metal gain levels? :S These people should just get an MT-2/Dist-X/Openhaus (depending on budget) and shut up already!

The DLS is a miracle-maker, no matter what I plug into, be it a crappy mic PA or a random amp in a studio, I just need to click it and leave it on, and it feels like I'm playing into a JCM right away, and I don't have to adapt all my other pedals' settings, because they just work with the DLS. Buy one. BUY ONE.

I see I see. Haha yeah I was wondering where there wasn't a single thread about the WIIO here too. I almost bought the WIIO off some guy on TGP but then again I think I'll wait until v2 is released. Right now it seems to go from medium gain to high gain which is a bit much. But on-topic, yeah TS buy a DLS. :D

DLS is an excellent sounding pedal, but price seems to be the only barrier for me, like Lovepedals as well.

I think in SG, people want overdrive tones and metal gains in one pedal.

To TS, what do you want to play anyways...

Because you need the high gain to do the punk emo metal hard rock etc thingy.

Then you'll be 'cool man'

The DLS was without a doubt an amazing pedal it took other pedals SO well, tweakability wise was great too. A most impressive all round marshall sounding pedal. Not to mention the V2 had a choice of V1/V2. Talk about versatility?

To the TS the options godspeed has displayed for you should be more than enough. If youre looking for plexi there are cheap pedals that can obtain you the plexi sound, one of which being the HAO rust driver. Not the best but definitely in the ballpark.

If youre just looking for a high gain pedal, your best bet is the wampler 3ple wreck. Just check out the demo by burgerman666 on youtube. Enough said about that.

If youre looking for simply marshall tones the DLS would do as a sweet mid - quite high gain Overdrive that is beautifully stackable with.. i dunno anything?

There are more marshally high gain pedals out there if the DLS isnt high gained enough for you, another being the Zvex Box of Rock which supposedly emulates a cranked up marshall JTM45.

Many more la. Go look see.

Oh cool thanks for the insights peeps!

I'm just really attracted to the tone/sound of those hair metal era. Trying to incorporate into my band stuff and all (originals and such)...

Thanks again!

Yeah the amp that dominated the hair metal era was the Marshall JCM800. Slash chose it too.

That definitely is your best bet. Wampler has many offerings for JCM800 emulation. Apparently the hype on TGP is quite hardcore, but, I know a handful of people on soft who avoid Wampler pedals like a virus.

Get a Biyang Metal End King? Lotsa metal pedals out that... 1 not enough, start stacking...

DLS is an awesome pedal. I'll get it if the price wasn't that insane...

Whats wrong with Wampler...? I have the Pinnacle 2, sounds great for the farty farty brown sound... JCM800 emulation... I think its the Plextortion...

The price is more than reasonable.. o.O

Depends on the persons perception of what reasonable is. I find spending 300bucks on an overdrive reasonable. The DLS costs 230sgd IRRC, thats considered real cheap for me. Can be otherwise as well, it depends on how much money a person is willing to part for his gear. ;)

Actually I don't look at retail price but rather the buy/sell market price.. Now those Timmys aren't cheap on the TGP emporiums (and other such classified ads) but you gotta admit it started out at merely $120USD.. Now that's cheap, to us it'll be like buying a Boss BD-2 or something if we get their salaries and such..

So roughly 2nd hand DLS around $180 ($170 if lucky, $200 norm), it IS cheap! Especially for a foundation pedal that has endless possibilities in sculpturing your tone!

Ah hell who am I to say.. I relish in cheap and good if it works for me.. I still find immense joy in using a simple Japanese SD-1 a seller was happy to part with for $50 (that won me a free Seekz DS-1)..

Hahaha... Don't tempt me into selling my Pinnacle for the DLS... I'm still in the midst of figuring it out...

tried the wampler pinnacle and a/b-ed it with my crunchbox, seemed that the pinnacle has too much of a scooped mids sound which coupled with the glassiness of the plexi sound was just a bad combo for certain kinds of amps. have yet to try the DLS but i doubt i need more pedals anyway.

the DLS is highly rated by many people.. i'd have gotten it if i was after a marshall sound. but i tend to dislike tones like those... can never like that biting/high mids kinda tone.
to me the price is pretty good too, close to a crunchbox.

but for the pinnacle, i must say i was HIGHLY impressed with the tone i hear on youtube. coupled with that wampler delay, it was really awesome. the problem with tones you hear on youtube though, is that they almost never sound the same when you do buy it. be it the amps they use or youtube compression. also, you dont know how well that tone cuts through in a band mix.

heck, even i almost bought a keeley ds1 based on how it sounded through the PGS youtube vid.

Pretty true... the Pinnacle doesn't reflect the Plexi well (go for the Plextortion in this case), in fact it is much more stable on Solid State amps.

DLS has a clear, shiny sort of quality to it that I admire, totally different from the Pinnacle. If you have good wood and a good amp, DLS certainly can make it shine...

*edit* But seems like we're going off thread... Hahaha... Sorry TS, you won't really get Plexi style tones from either of the abovementioned...
