do u actually need to change pickups? There are not the most important things on a guitar.

Dear Swetank,

I've had a short fling with the POD XT Live... I've gotta say... you'll need ALOT of patience tweaking this bugger. Very powerful/versatile, but u've gotta keep tweaking.

You should be able to find forums with user presets, try em and see if it helps?

Your amp plays a huge part too. Btw, check ur XT Live output (if it's set to PA out, Amp out etc) It might be running the amp/cabinet emulation.

All the best!

Agree with most here. The XTL needs a lot of tweaking and the tone is very dependant on your setup so even if there's good review on a certain preset (downloaded or factory), it might not sound good on your setup. Try tweaking around with these settings instead of starting from scratch which would take a lot of time. :) Changing the EQ would alter your tone tremendously but of course use the computer software to do it.

Hmmmm..............although the XTL requires quite sme tweaking(have 1 myself), i still say it's easier to use than say the BOSS GT-8 and definitely the Digitech GNX series, which are total ripoffs IMHO. I can't say much abt the Vox ToneLab LE, nvr tried it b4. And the XTL is more versatile(to me) than the GT-8, it's main competitor bcos 1. the price 2. the quality of the amp/cab sims 3. the quality of the effects is near to that of the GT-8 4. more user-friendly.

U might wanna consider the upcoming X3 Live, it doesn't have just more amps/cabs/effects, it allows u 2 plug a bass and guitar in seperately, has Mic/S-PDIF inputs for home recording junkies, XLR outputs and more. Oh yes and an effects loop for those pedal junkies out there. I jus called CityMusic, it shld be $752 after discount.

DISCLAIMER: This was the price quoted to me, an anonymous caller. By no way is this the 'official' price of the PodX3 Live.
