pedals and batteries

one 1spot, with no dc chain- one pedal only, cause there is only one dc jack that can be insert into the pedal side

one 1spot with dc chain- 5 pedals can be powered up, cos of the 5 dc jacks on the dc chain

one 1 spot with 2 dc chain- 10 pedals can be powered up,
provided all 10 pedals dont suck beyond the 1700ma "juice" available from 1 onespot. Fortunately, this, is not recommended as noise/hum/hiss issues might arise or worst, 1 spot "overwork" to power all 10 pedals that it will fire itself to quit working.

lol.. one 1spot with 2 daisy chain can only power up 9 pedals.. cause 1 input from the first daisy chain will have to power up for the 2nd one.. haha :supz:

L shape daisy chains are actually quite useful, the one i used is not angled head and sometimes its a pain to connect it cuz it makes ur thing sorta less flexible overall

i think music theme, guitar77, guitarconnection, mrmisse sells them
i got mine from guitarconnection
btw the last time i went there it was out of stock..
:)

yeah so 50bucks for us jingming! 5 pedals! lol. lets go to mr misse after the prelims!! just needa search around in my backyard.... hmm.
if edder visits here.. just wanna say i'm longing to try the all hailed sahasrara OD too...

No surprise as the dc brick is basically a daisy chain built to look like a box. What you'll need are isolated outputs on the hum causing effects.

Hi, can anyone explain what it means by isolated outputs?

i don't recommend wasting that extra $10 for the visualsound daisy chain... the price of that thing is so rip off out of this world... it really costs $5 man!
haha i dun care if its L-shaped plug or straight plug, what works, works...

Actually it matters. I've used some cheap ass $5 daisy chain bought from Music Theme with my 1spot, gives some really bad hum. Changed to VisualSound and the hum is much reduced.

This is powered by one 1spot and 3 daisy chains.

Right angled helps for tight spots.

Isolated means not connected in any way. Imagine it as having 2 or more power supplies inside one container.

I think he was talking about the daisy chain. The visualsound ones are pretty expensive compared to the straight ones you can buy at Davis. But right angled is really useful for tight boards.

Hmm, so practically you're saying to use 2 1Spot adapters instead of just using 1 to power all the pedals?

Am I getting the right picture about isolated output to reduce hum from the chain?

That's one way, or there are other power supplies available that provide isolated outputs. The voodoo labs one for example.

The maker of the one in this pic:
Image010.jpg

custom makes power supplies with as many isolated outputs as you want and at any voltages you want too.

You'll need to drink his secret black beer and recite the secret code in reverse delay :D

Ark - from what you said earlier then about the DC brick, does this mean the Voodoo Labs pedal power is superior in this aspect, ie. is truly isoated and not a daisy chain dressed up in one box?

bro ark bro, my power supplies are group isolated, not individual lah. anyhow say later i kena hantam!

Vern, Swee Lee has stock last time... I recall @ their last yr end sale, the PP2+ units were there (damn!) and ugh. I dont' know if there are anymore.

If you wish to purcase PP2+ (or any power supply units for that matter) do make sure its 230v... not the US 110v version.

And if you want to order from overseas, this is one item that is usually more costly than buying local. Weird.

Edder's supplies would be good if you don't have too many pedals... ideally, we just split the dirt pedals from the modulation pedals. Especially if you use "sensitive" dirt pedals like those with transistors... fuzzes... etc.

But edder bro you can make a certain number of individual isolation right? Like how many ah? Ahaha :D

Here's a vague depiction:

DC brick comes with an adapter if you didn't know. They always just show the box in advertising pictures.

Here, I found a pic:
c80a_12.JPG

So you connect that adapter on the right to your wall (effectively being like the 1Spot adapter) then connect that adapter to the DC Brick (effectively being like the 1Spot daisy chain).

I would say it's 1 level above:
PC240007.jpg

cos at least it takes in 18V and steps it down to 9V before daisy chaining them, whereas OMGWOWITWORKSFORME takes 9V in and puts out 9V not even daisy chaining it (inside joke, some of us may remember it).

As you can see, daisy chaining means connecting all the 9V outs in parallel meaning they share the same current and the same ground.

Whereas the voodoo labs looks like this:
VoodooLabPedalPowerACBack.jpg

Imagine that inside this power supply is your typical power strip:
Power_Strip.jpg

With 9 outputs. And on each of those 9 outputs, there is a power supply connected to it.

You can almost treat the voodoo labs supply as having 9 1Spots. Almost because it uses a different method of supplying power, and thus does not achieve on each supply the massive 1700mA of current the 1Spot can produce.

I'm not sure if it uses transformers but if it does then you have also another potential problem where it might radiate hum to some sensitive pedals which are nearby.
