softies,was thinking is my distortion pedal spoil cos i had to turn the gain knob up high at about 2 o'clock to get the sound out from my amp.My amps vol. knob is at about 9 o'clock.
reason im asking is cos ive tried with other pedals and i just have to turn the gain knob on the pedals till about 9-10 o 'clock and the distortion sound coming out from amp is loud enuff.vol. on the amp remains at 9 o'clock.Is anything wrong? thnx for advise.

different pedals have different gain and volume structure, one setting that works for "A" pedal might not work for "B " pedal and vice versa. Same goes to using different guitars with same chain of effect etc

But of course, it cud be faulty pedal as well..

to have a more fruitful comparison, mention the pedal that you are playing with, wait for people with that same pedal as you to come in the forum here and see if theirs, react in the same way as yours.

sigh....don think anyone had the same pedal as me...cos i bought it overseas while on holiday and i cant find any infor. on the web.its a custom handmake pedal...had ask a repairman as well but he too mention that diff. makes have diff.sound and gain structures...but i do notice a drop of gain comparing to the very 1st time i played it where i just need to turn at abt 9-10 o'clock unless my ears n memory is failing me..haha

How bout tracing out the circuit and components and recreate the same thing on breadboard to test and see if its working as the pedal itself. Provided the circuit aint too difficult or using componenets thats already obsolete and such.

heh, the tracing out and recreate thingy on breadboard be extreme, but if really wanna find out how it compare to the pedal, this is the only way. Unless buying another of same pedal again and compare...

heh, ask the repairman to do the tracing for you instead and pay him accordingly

heh, maybe perhaps, afterall if its a customed pedal and if no reference to any design thats on the internet or diy circle, the repairman will really have to trace the thing to troubleshoot or do comparison
