Pawn Shop

Times are tough so the question is...

I was wondering if there is any pawn shop here that can accept guitars?

Not totally selling it away but just maybe pawn it for a few months and getting it back by the stipulated date.

Hmmm.... :(

and sell with sky high prices.

well.. most of the time.

Not true. ITS ALL of the time!!

I just got back from Toa Payoh and saw MY ex-Craftsman gtr I sold off to a dude who went & sell it to Cash Convertors! CC is asking $350/- for the gtr.

Thats almost $100 over the price he paid to me! For the amt CC is charging, you can actually buy it brand new from City Music.

I guess he's hit a bad patch and sold it off to CC. :( Knowing them, I think they bought it from him between $130 ~ 150/- (correct or not?)

BTW, buyer, if you're reading this, should've contacted me first lah :???:
I would've gladly arranged for something and taken it back.

Go see it. I think you'll be in LOVE.

don't sell. you put it at the back of the stage during your gig. then at the end of the song you whip it out and smash it into the ground

haha somehow i don't approve of people smashing their guitars... i mean, yeah it may be cool and all that, but aren't musicians supposed to handle their instruments with TLC, even if it's spoiled, smashing it is kinda... sad in a violent way, haha... sorry being a little sentimental here =P

yeah i feel sentimental about guitars or any other instrument being thrown or smashed. i work in the airport baggage section where baggage sorting happens. while i dont mind seeing people being ruthless to fragile things, my heart breaks everytime i see a guitar, be it in a hardcase or gigbag, being thrown.

I've never checked-in my guitar when flying after all the horror stories ppl tell me. I'll bring it with me on the plane and get the stewardess to store it safely (if it doesnt fit in the overhead compartment. BTW it usually does) and hold them accountable if anything happens to it.

I am one of those demanding air passengers LOLz.

LoL... Like most Soft threads, this one has diverted well off as well...

I think you guys misunderstood me, I do not want to sell my guitar. I want to pawn it for like 6 months or something, get some cash, then after the 6 months I pay back the pawn shop with the interest and stuff. Much like a loan but using my guitar as a guarantor.

Looks like there's none here. Gotta find the extra dough somewhere else... Anybody wants to hire a mediocre guitarist? :(

I would not be surprised if they only paid $100 or so.
How much does CC pay for used CDs, anyone know?
They sell these for $5 each.

Sorry to have gone off-thread there...

Like cereal says "you can't pawn wood". But they do it in the States? yes?

This is a long shot but maybe...
(another one of my stooopit ideas)

Ask a jamming studio owner (JSO) if they'd 'pawn/rent' the axe from you for a certain period. Your axe may be used as one of his equipment and he'll agree to exercise minimal responsibility for your axe.

Theres so many pros & cons to this (more cons for you then the JSO of course)

CC will pay $50 standard for unbranded - lesser known guitars.

They buy from you at a $1 per CD.
