Overdrive Help

subbie,

think I need to pass you a sample of Sahasrara OD to do a Neoclassical OD shootout.

my votes go to:

1. blackstone mosfet od
2. banzai cold fusion
3. banzai fireball 3

in no order..

i used to like the ocd, but not anymore...it has some pretty pretty harmonics though..

Come come... must offer BALANCE...

Some peeps like middy stuff. Liquid smoooth lead tones you know... stuff like that.

Even then, I believe there are many designs that have surpassed the tubescreamer - people have taken the basic TS circuitry and tweaked/improved upon it to the point where... why go back to the original?

Oh yeah, this PoV excluds the use of mojo-fied vintage units.

quote snuffle:so subbie bro, please do a review of the OM labs sahararsararsahara pedal please?

8) have pedal, will review

Edder HINT! HINT!

-on a more personal note, i feel subbie's reviews are very well structured, informative for both tone noobs and tone snobs

Hey, im looking for something that can act as a nice transparent bluesy overdrive that can clean up on its own, and that can also be used for mild rock tones and also as a booster to make my metal muff thicker and more crunchy. Any recommendations?
If you got the moolah, try N.O.C.3 Pure Drive. It does what you described above beautifully, and extremely versatile too. Very transparent sounding and brings out lots of good tones. The best features are the "clean blend" (adds & mixes boosted clean signals to overdrive - brings out clarity, dynamics & full frequency response when driven), "unique bass" (also controls mid-humps & gain), and "clipping switch" (adds/reduce fatness, compression and frequency response).

The PD also comes with interchangeable components - 3 overdrive chips (JRC4558, LM1458, OPA2134), 4 ceramic capacitors, and 2 metal film capacitors. All are socketed and easy to swap (just plug & pull, no soldering). These allow for mixing & matching to suit your guitars, amps and tonal taste. I'm using the PD for months now, and it's a keeper alright!

guitarsan, is your home/room very humid or you keep the NOC in an air conditioned room?

The footswitch and jacks look tarnished a little.

Actually I never noticed that. Taking a closer look, only a slight tarnish. Room not so humid, sometime turn on air-con. I expect metal to tarnish after a while. But as long it works well, I don't really bother.
