hello,

Does any of you guys playing single bass drum have this problem? I played drums almost everyday for half a year, but recently i find that my right leg muscle is quite bigger than my left leg, in term of strenght too. Sometimes when walking also feel not balance XD Sometiems even almost fall man

When you play your kick drum, particularly with heel-down technique, you use a different set of muscles which belong to the calf muscle group.

When your leg is outstretched and walking or running, the back most part of your calf muscle group works to pull your foot to "tip-toe" position.

When you're seated playing drums, the muscle group between the above mentioned outter muscle and shin bone goes to work.

Maybe your shin muscle on your right leg is quite over developed compared to your left shin muscle and that causes your feet to react oddly when walking...

For me, my right leg can slam the beater hard into the kick drum while my left is quite weak and slow.

yup im very much a single pedal player so my right leg is much stronger. it's very natural, if your right handed, you're right hand would be stronger, if your left handed, you're left han would be stronger. but you should keep training your left leg at the same time too. i do open, close hi-hat exercises especially with jazz to train my left foot.

omg i really dislike imbalance limbs XD i always give me left hand addtional training in gym to balance up with my right

Do u guys find some problems when walking/running excercising?

i thought if playing the hithat more to train up the leg leg too, i think that the strenght used to play the hithat is consider relatively little as compared to playing the bass durm right?

hm.. yes but for me it's okay. as long as my left leg is capable of a certain strength im fine with it. afterall im a right legger.

i guess it only matters when you wanna double pedal... the coordination is more like the thing for single pedal players... regarding the different coordination patterns and what not....
