pickup height falls under the subject of setting up guitars. Before asking what it is, try to google for it. Theres lotsa sites with rather well explained and infos thats useful. Do have a read first and come back here if theres anything particular which you dont understand.

okay i've kinda been reading the pickups height thing and i've kinda concluded that my pickups should be slightly higher than normal cause thats how to get the best sound for metal.i think i'll just go consult the people at davis is that good??

Nah there's no need to. All the info can be easily found online.

Keep in mind that setting your pickup too high will cause several problem, like intonation problem and loss of sustain.

Hey thanks for all your help guys.I shall go talk to some experts at those shops mentioned and make my decision.But somehow i'm more slighted to changing my pickups haha..once again thanks..

That's kinda like when its set to extremes.

Like REALLY close... so close you can't squeeze a 50 cent coin in-between the strings and pickup.

Unless you're using an X2N ... that's different...
