Fans of Rage Against the Machine should check this one out.

It's a collab project featuring Zack de la Rocha of Rage Against the Machine on vocals / keyboards and Jon Theodore, ex Mars Volta on drums.

I really think that Zach really upped his song writing in terms of word plays and rhyme scheme. The sound is stripped down compared to RATM. The latter is already quite stripped down already, so you can imagine.

yeah i used to think RATM was just a pretty hyped up group until i found thir first cd in my dad's stash.

I became a fan since I first saw their music video for Bulls on Parade on MTV.

Their 1st and 2nd (Evil Empire) were the best (my personal opinion).
Get the Live in Mexico DVD if you can...

I myself just "found" One Day As A Lion a few days ago... Happy that 2 individuals from great bands collaborate.
But strangely the drum sounds like Brad Wilk. And the keyboards (i'm guessing here) sounds like Tom (with the wah on half).
Still, great song... :mrgreen:

Well, I'm getting this album, plus Tom Morello is releasing his 2nd solo album, we await the nightwatchman again.

Cause RATM fans are busy posting at forums and Mars Volta fans are busy headbanging to their CDs? :mrgreen::mrgreen:

I LOVE mars volta...
I even enjoy listening to Amputechture (viscera eyes from there?) and Scab Dates, albums mars volta fans "hates". I was just listening to Bedlam In Goliath in my iPod today while walking to Sheng Siong supermaket to get groceries... :mrgreen:
 
the mars volta is a band that promises but never delivers. at least not for me.. and not since their first album. I still love the drum work though. I heard their live shows aren't that great either, even though Omar and Cedric can spin and dance their asses off while playing/singing.

I'll check this out once I get into my angsty mood cycle!
 
The problem with the mars volta, is that each consecutive album have been mastered louder and louder, and with the latest, there's no way of listening to it at all on earphones.

Zach's lyrical flow has certainly changed for the better.
