OM: Live Recording

wow, 8 tracks. good good.

this is for the Axed Ministers track, the other track cannot open?

the bass drum can be a bit more rounder. now abit like floating feeling. some part the bass drum timming out. maybe 'move' it abit? can use the bass drum track to trigger a bass drum sample to make it fuller?

is there a gate on the crash? coz the sustain is kinda short.

cannot really hear the bass guitar?

i listening throug akg 240m

Is this the track assigment?

1. Vocal - main
2. Vocal - backup
3. Bass
4. Guitar
5. Guitar
6. Bass drum
7. Snare
8. Overhead

James,
you got it spot on.

Especially the cymbals, no sustain at all.

But overall recording is good consider it a live recording.
Bravo!!

Thank you very for the comments.

I've got limited control over the drums.

The tracks assignment:-

1. Drums Left
2. Drums Right
3. Bass
4. Guitar left
5. Guitar Right
6. Keys
7. Overall Vocal mics (three mics total)
8. Embience Mic

Drums signal I took out from the house sub group. So basically what you get here is the same as FOH, and Vocals too. Yeah, wish I can over sampled the drums more... but it can't be done. Beyond my control. There are no overhead mics for the cymbals. What you hear are bleeds from the other mics. And also the house cymbals are cracked, so hence contributes more to the non-sustain.

I'm using a 4 inputs signal splitter for both guitars, bass and keys.

Can't hear the bass guitar?... hahhaha.. out of some reasons I have to minimise the bass level. Just have to.

I think for the other track, try to playback it through realplayer or winamp. The mp3 which I converted is in VBR. That explains why windows media player can't play.

Thanx alot James. This is my 1st live recording project (for a full band in a local gig). Hopefully it can get better in time with better gears.

i just heard the axed ministers tornado of souls.. the mixing is good for a live recording. nice clarity... but cannot hear the bass guitar well leh..

you mean spliting the signal that is coming into the FOH mixer?

so the Drums are sub-mix to 2 tracks?

but seriously, so many signal into one 8 tracks, ha..ha... must really think very hard on the track assignment.

for the audience pick up, i would use the camera's tape. hee..hee... if you have 2 cameras - 1 near and 1 far, use the audience pick up from the far camera. mix it nicely can get surround effect!

next time we bring another snake cable and run the signal to a recording room next door. hook up to a HD24, watch video and shake leg!
