OFFICIAL- Show us your kits thread!

Thanks for such a detailed explaination bro! At least now we know what the actual costs are for buying a kit from overseas...which company did you purchase from? Some companies don't actually ship overseas with special priced products.

Nah, don't think you are going against any dealers. If its really a good deal, I would ship from overseas too. And I know what you mean about the snares, I must have about 3 non-pearl snares sitting at home too...

No problem bro! I got them from MF. Shipped them through singpost. Shipping is free within USA. Just get them to send to singpost's office in Oregon for free, then pay for the shipping charges to SG. That's all!

Where you gigging nowadays?? I'll pop by once I'm settled with doing up my studio! :)

Thanks Jugman! :) The glitter never cease to catch my attention!

mel80: I hope I don't look like a glam rock drummer! Not that I don't dig them!

Frummer: Only shells! Snare from USA too! Hardware all locally bought! From Yamaha's recent sale and Swee Lee. Accessories from both mentioned, and also from Ranking and Nigel's shop!

I know this is not related to the thread and it's not in the trail of discussion but I can't help it! LOL! Check my blog out for more information about my drums plus lessons. I'll be updating more by the day. Thanks! Happy Hitting!!

=O wow, that time I wanted to order from them but they didn't do international so I didn't check further. I so totally need to try that!

Thanks for sharing!

I seldom play club gigs anymore. Ends too late for me to be able run my school although it might be fun (I was so tempted to take up a gig at Devils Bar with Kelvin just before they went to DragonFly, but working till 5 am is just impossible for me). I mostly play events, functions n concerts etc. There are proposals for thailand and korea in June so the most I can do is post clips up here.

Where is your studio gonna be? Recording or teaching studio?

It's teaching only for now! Still in the process of upgrading it to a mini recording studio! :)

Please post clips here! I'll check them out for sure! I was with Kelvin at Devil's and couldn't take the schedule, that's why they were searching for a new drummer! Didn't know that they found you! LOL! YOu should have taken that! LOL! Good $$$!! :P But the hours are devlish unless you're a vampire, you can't get used to it! Takes like a few months to adapt to that kind of working schedule.

Cool,

I'm sure your students will be delighted with the masters! All the best with the studio!

Yups!! I have done club contract gigs between 1997-2002 but they were all western music. The canto club schedule came as a shock to me. We had a brief meeting at the club and even rehearsed once but I got offered a much better day job and decided not to take the gig. I am really enjoying my type of gigs much better now and I am quite thankful for everything.

By the way, how long did the whole purchasing process take with MF? I am curious to find out...there are some stuff there that is so cool!

Not long at all usually! But my order took longer because of some unforeseen delays! Would probably take a month for shipping, not including the time MF takes to deliver to singpost Oregon.

Tell me more about the day job?? You're teaching still right? Some side biz perhaps? You can PM me if it's not convenient here! :P

MF should be giving the best stuff at great prices in the whole country so it's worth checking out if you can! What are you looking to get? The Pearl Demon Drive pedals are out and I'm thinking of getting a pair.... kena poison again... LOL!

Pearl Demon Drive from Swee Lee I mean! LOL! Same price I think if you order in. But shipping is expensive because of weight. Just FYI...

I have shipped quite a few things in from all places. To be honest, if the local dealers have stock and the unit you are looking for, it is usually cheaper because of the economies of scale they offer.

It is only cheaper to purchase from overseas dealers if our local dealers dont have it and it will cost them just as much (longer timing usually as well) to bring in that individual item for you.

Unless of course if they have already monopolized particular brands, then they do have the tendency to mark up the prices. I have had such experiences before in several prominent shops here in the past.

Actually now is the best time to get all the gear you want at the various outlets. They do offer some discount off the shelf price but you can ask for a further discount and see if they can throw that in to sweeten the deal.

I find Swee Lee and Yamaha very willing to do this extra bit, but only for serious buyers.
