OFFICIAL- Show us your kits thread!

mel80: Heh. I still drool at it every time I take it out of the cymbal bag. You wanna try it out?

reuben: Lol. Of all things! Got another one but it's blocked by the snare. I think there are a couple more around the room as well.

is it just me or the arrangement is weird..

Wierdly enuf it kinda makes sense to me haha... i kinda paired the cymbals and toms so that the right and the left are independent sounding and yet sound good when i do double crashes... toms wise.. well... i believe it could be better? =P

yeah the cymbals on the right loook damn oddly placed... how do you get to your ride?

Hmm... well its more accessable then it looks really.. ehh the one that is on the inside is just a china since i dont use it much accept for accents its not within usual reach.. makes me a lil more aware of my accents then just doing crazy crashes on my china whenever i like it... =)

Jeepers I digs your drumkit alot! Esp the heads, they look tasty  How do they sound ?

Eh btw that was quite a clever idea of putting thirty hippo, reduces moisture in the room right ?

Hey Spinninsticks! Thanks! The heads are quite superb actually. Drum_hobbyist tuned them up real nice for me! Pretty warm, focused. Quite fat too, I must add. I might not stick with the EC2 - Genera combination though, a tad pricey; Would prolly use G2 Coated - G1 Clear combination in the future. Remo skins are pretty tempting though.

Heh Marcdadrummer was the one who advised me to get them Thirsty Hippos. Yup they absorb the moisture in the room. Won't totally prevent the chrome hardware from corroding but they do help to slow down the process a wee bit.

do you know why it won't stop corrotion?
because... your room is not air tight and the air pressure is the same as everywhere.
no matter how many thirsty hippos you put, there's more moisture in the atmosphere than the thirsty hippo can take... thirsty hippos are designed to work in small area's...
like closets, shoe cabinets. not an entire room.

sorry to break it to everyone, but yea.

I actually agree with myner.

I do remember thirty hippos work very well in closed up environments (we use a whole lot of them when we had to stuff all sweaty/smelly uniforms back into the cupboard again).

I'm not too sure if it works in this case, unless the room is closed up most of the time ?

Yeap I think we all know that? Or at least I know that. That's why I've got like a handful of Thirty Hippos in the room. It still does not prevent corrosion, but it does its part. The only way to stop corrosion is to put your kit in a vacuum room/airtight chamber.

How much did it cost you to get the EC2 - Genera combi for all 3 toms ? Btw, any chance of a sample of your playing with those heads on ? It looks good, and I'll probably get them if they sound to my liking as well ! Pardon me for being so visual :-D

Spinninsticks: EC2s: 10" - $20, 12" - $21, 14" - $28
Genera: 10" - $8, 12" - $14.50, 14" - $15.50

Bought the 14" EC2 Head from Music Theme. Had no choice but to buy from there 'cos both Ranking and Yamaha were out of 14" EC2 batters.

The 10" Genera reso I bought from the recent Yamaha sale.

Wah. Cannot la, mega n00b here. Paiseh leh.

Mel80: Hahah! Aite We can work something out I guess.

myner, the one brandon brought with him was a 13 x 6.5 20 ply reference snare which sounded a blast, I'm itching to hear how this one sounds. Samples would be great ! :-D

Kari_, so how much did you pay in total (+plus shipment and insurance) for the drum to be shipped from japan ?

well, actually my friend who studied there bought the stuffs for me and he put them on his contenna together with all his stuffs because he is coming back to Msia for good.

i only pay for about RM1K++ for both items together with the shipping from the shop to my friend's house in Japan. :D

The Pearl Z-Type Maple Snare looks gorgeous! Looks like it will have a reaaaaaally deep and fat sound man.
