My 1960s Jazz Kit (Updated) - (Belonging to Mr Tama Goh)

I bought this Original Kit (3pc Kit – 20” Bass Drum, 14” Floor Tom & a 12” Tom-Tom & Bass Drum Cymbal-Holder with Original Mufflers all intact) from Mr Tama Goh recently in October 2007. This Kit is incomplete (no snare and available HardWares). But comes with Aquarian Satin Batter & Reso on entire Kit.

In November last month – I went to eBay and bidded for the rest of the items hoping to complete this Kit. This is what I have done upgraded.

(1) Pearl 1960s Script-Badge Red-Sparkle Snare (Mint Condition)
(2) Ludwig 1950-60 WFL Flat-Base Snare Stand (some rust only on the Top)
(3) Ludwig 1950 60 WFL Flat-Base Hi-Hat Stand (no rust / splitting on chrome)
(4) Ludwig 1960s SpeedKing Pedal (0ne of the best condition I ever seen)

Bought from Swee Lee –

(5) Remo Fibre Skin – 2pcs = 20” Reso, 2pcs = 14” Batter & a 12” Batter
(6) Changed both New Top & Bottom 12” Rims for Tom

To compete the Kit – I am still looking for the below items at ebay

(7) Ludwig 1960s Seat / Stool
(8) Ludwig 1950-60 Flat-Base Cymbal Stands
(9) 14” Rims (2pcs) with 6 holes only for Floor Tom.

Here’s the Pics of the current Kit with Add-On.

Hi, everyone this is my first post here.

I would like to share with all of you the pictures of this drumset, too bad, the drumset doesn't belongs to me, but my church. It is a Yamaha Rydeen (meaning God of Thunder in Japanese) set which cost RM3,000 including the headliner cymbals (14" hi-hat, 16" crash, and 20" ride). I plan to buy another cymbal and put in RHS. I have only one crash on the left, and sometime when i need to hit the crash while both my hands are on the right, there will be a slight delay in timing.

Here are the pictures of the drumset in my church

the first picture looks decent and well placed "square power" angles.. but the 2nd one too extreme bro....

hey thanks for your reply, you are the first one in this forum to reply my post :)

I am quite new in drumming, i am quite confuse in positioning the toms. Some say i can place the toms so that the heads are in a "V" shape, while some say the head of the toms should form a straight line, like what is shown in the first picture.

I hope i am not off topic:p

i follow the power square method. where evertyhing when drawn an imaginary line with the rims, it forms sort of a square...

usually batman tom angles doesn't really matter but it looks ugly la... a bit of angle is ok but too extreme could also affect sound...

the physicis behind it is to let strike the batter head, air inside travels from the top to the bottom resonant head, thus exciting it, and some air rebounds back to the batter...

with that angle, the physics might not work - i guess.. im not a physics student... it does affect the sound tho... and it feels awkward too...

and welcome to soft DXS!!!! :D:D:D
