Dull,

It's like doing a 32nd triplet on a pillow up to 140bpm for 30mins...you go soft and loud every 5mins...you ensure both hands maintain the same volume at all time at different grip and etc.. fingers,wrist & arm technique while getting the real feel on a snare drums rather than working on a pillow...one of many good way to hear clearly your every stroke..All for practice purpose...

and about the foam thing, so it acts as a practice pillow like feel but still having the snare sound - didnt quite get ur explanation.. sorry
 
I don't even have my own kit...

But when I do, it'll be a Tama Swingstar 5-piece with extra bass drum and kick for double-bass, pretty simple. But with a collection of Paiste Twenty, Rudes and New Alpha cymbals! Will post it if I'm still alive by then.
