Official Dunlop Crybaby Wah Owner's Thread

hahaha... its time to pimp my warez...

got some left over red/yellow "fasel" inductors and a bunch of Propot wah pots from my modding days.

pm if you want em loose or installed.

Go for Edder's mods.

The fasels are quite a radical change from the stock crybaby tone and there's 2 tones there, the red & yellow.

you can even have BOTH installed, selectable via toggle switch.

Heh, yes, Keeley has a mod like this but $450 for a modded Crybaby/Vox wah? I'll get Teese's RMC wahs thank you.

The pot is also an important component of a wah's tone... Had a stock Vox and a modded Vox, same models... modded had true bypass and a Fulltone pot... the modded one sounded more natural and pleasing to the ear.

yup the mod pots does make a difference.

regular Hotpotz/Hotzpotz wotever from Dunlop measures to 100kohm while the Propots that I have on hand measures to 200kohm if I remember correctly.

Surely 200kohm is better than 100kohm.... bwaaaaaahahahahahhaaha...

damn.....

the magic of a wah

1. Inductor
2. Pot
3. Transistor gain
4. Capacitor value (the capacitor types may affect it a bit but its all in the VALUE)
5. Some resistor values here and there to "tweak" the sound.

I love teese wah, i have a WW, but I dunno why but crybabies will always have a special place in my heart...my first crybaby I used was purchased in 1993-1994, and i have bot a few over the years recently, but i feel that the older crybabies sound better, anybody here feels the same way?

the magic of a wah

1. Inductor + coupled resistor
2. Pot
3. Transistor gain + variable
4. Capacitor value (the capacitor types may affect it a bit but its all in the VALUE)
5. Some resistor values here and there to "tweak" the sound.(wth ...make em all variable)

6. The FOOT that rocks. :D

hi Crawldaddy,

I place my wah at the first pedal of my signal chain. before the distortions and modulations. How about you?

how can i maximise the wah effect with alot of distortion? The wah effect seemingly becomes weaker when i turn up the gain. The volume boost does help abit though.

Hmm.

I place mine 2nd in the efx chain because my fuzz is picky and jealous of the other pedals hence the fuzz has to be first. But I'm okay with it lah, got plenty of tonal variation on my board as it is.

And once my new pickups come in.. I'll be zhnging my axe!!!
