not being taken seriously?

why not just speak properly?

anyway my method is sarcasm and raised eyebrows.
even funnier when people don't get that you're insulting them and continue being douches.

heh, if iam a salesperson and i have to face people with some of the attitude mentioned in here on a daily basis over long period of working time in instrument shop, i think i will be a bastard and not take some of you all seriously, even if havin the money to buy and seriously want to buy.

anyway, sometime its the other people who just want to try for fun and play around the instrument that pisses those salespeople off and in turn affect everyone, be it serious or non serious in buying/trying.

Yeah man it sucks.

Sometimes its so bad you just want them to leave you alone cos you feel uncomfortable playing in front of em.

I guess you shouldn't mind them if they give you such looks. You go there to try and if possible, buy right? And those people have no right to stop you from trying or buying.

So just test your heart out. Because we go there to test the guitars, not to please the salesperson.

Just how i feel :D

i think that most of you guys are trying to suggest that the problem lies with the customer. i don't think it is true.

instead, shops should train/tell their salespeople to treat customers properly/equally.well that will be hard to implement/do, so...

yeah ryancrl i guess its a good idea to ignore them.but they don't even allow me to turn it up to a decent volume lor.

hmm...

heh, training is one thing, being in a customer service line is another. It like the theres police to catch thief, but we dont see people not commiting crime at all

learn to live with it, if you are really bother by it, take it to their higher superior and talk sense, not with emotions, if it doesnt work out, so be it. Too much emotions involved, it will affect the next person who wanna try the instrument, just like you do. Heh, who knows, you might have a part in affecting the salesperson attitude towards the next person in line who wanna try

Yup we're there to test the guitars, not please the salesperson. The salesperson suppose to please us..lol, here somehow we here have gotten it backwards. This is one thing that is "uniquely singapore"

And yes please, test the shit out of guitars. 13yr old, 16 yr old, 61 yr old....isn't that wht the whole idea of having a guitar shop is? so we can test the shit out of them. Even if we are not buying on that day itself, we may consider buying it in the future.

Even if for fun, who knows we might all of a sudden fall in love that particular guitar we decided to try, and it might be an impulse buy. So i don't get the common practice here of just staring at the guitar hanging on the wall before we decide to make our purchase. I guess it is damn tiring to pick the guitar up from the wall, plug it in, put it back on the wall day in day out.

Even been shopping with a mother/gf/wife....u know how they go from shop to shop trying out shit and not buying. Isn't that the norm? With ladies it is an accepted trait. Somehow with guitar shops here we are suppose to just walk-in and buy the first thing we lay our hands on.

And put yourself into the shoes of that salesperson, the poor guy has to face all kinds of customers and stupid questions. Well guess wht, isn't that your job scope? Deal with it. Wht do you think signing up as a sales person or sales exec is? Sure you face the odd a**hole or two, ironically most a**holes are the ones with the money.

the shops are not ready for us and we not ready for them as well.

oh, one thing slightly better for testing geetar than buying sexy panties for girlfriend, mother, boyfriend, etc, is that at least geetar still can try out, but those sexy stuff, no way.

either treat geetar like sey toy(ever heard of people trying sex toy in shops?) or that bring up issuesto the boss and make sure the staff who didnt serve well, be kick out of the job, if not everything will be lost when we come internet for discussion. Its not going to help much in improving the situation of the shop. It will only highlight "my unhappiness", "mine" only thingy.

heh, sometime i see too much of myself as well.

to threadstarter, so for what you wanna, to test the geetar, are you willing to confront the boss, or somebody who is of higher authority in the shop, other than the person who serve?

A good sales person with a good attitude will increase the chances of me buying something from that store, even though the price may be a little steeper than other places.

I used to work at a guitar shop in bras basah. I still do go back to help out once in awhile. I hope I didn't offend anybody when I was working there, haha.

for what i want to test the guitar?

erm to buy?

well if getting another salesperson will give me a better experience, why not.

haha for me i just keep complimenting.....even the Davis uncle likes me!

if you are nice, trust me nobody in their right frame of mine will want to not be nice to you....even if they are nice sarcastically, i pretend not to hear the sarcasm and just continue acting enthu. They'll probably get the idea that that they dont have a choice but to serve me after a while

doesnt matter if its buying or just testing. Look at it in a bigger sense "iam not getting much of a service, so i will sound out to someone in charge"

the idea, other than you getting the service, is also to help others who are like you. And not just you getting the service only.

heh, and if you still dont get the service, will you go all the way to make sure that the fella who didnt serve you, be kicked out of the job or wont have easy time after that?

haha....come down with me to Davis one of these days and watch me work my way around him. Wokay sounded abit wrong ah but you get what i mean. hahaha

lol Davis uncle and auntie always treat me nice when i go down there. need to go there soon to get new bass strings. they are the only ones i know which stock the type of strings that i'm using..

when they first got their VHTs, I asked how much a 4x12" would set me back, and he replied with 'very expensive'. i said thanks for answering my question and walked out. =/

i use to get those treatments but if tis things happen again, i wun bother to care oso. lol

coz i'm the one testing (playing suckily) and i am the 1 buying if i like it. i wun bother so much wif the ppl there

true, but come on, how would telling me the price hurt him at all? it's like i'm so lowly and poor even telling me the price is a waste of his time and breath. talk about crap service.
