noob needs help

why don't you try fretted bass ? there's much tone in them imo. fretless's tone sounds punchless to me. just try both of them and decide : )

hi holas
thanks for the suggestion, i think i cant really find a fretless one with my kinda budget too so i guess i dun really have a choice :)

+1 on the squire vintage modified for your budget. No harm emailing sweelee to ask for a quote. =)

you can consider a fretted bass lah, main problem with people going from fretted to fretless is getting good intonation. not much other difference in terms of playing. even if you used a fretless instead of a fretted you would still have to get used to the scale length and playing style of an electric bass. the learning curve is more or less the same. and eventually you would want a fretted bass if u start playing other kinds of music, because of the difference in tone.

take the lefties for instance, many of them just end up playing a right handed bass and get used to it

Hi guys,

someone from this forum offered his yamaha BBN4F-III for 450, he said he got it from another at 500. izzit a good buy?

I've emailed sweelee abt the squire but they havent replied

Thanks in advance

i've seen one yamaha BBN4F-III with preamp installed sold for 300bucks before but not sure of the retail price.

Nice to see a fellow double bassist trying out electric bass here too. hahaha.

For me, I used a jazz bass with frets because I heard that the j-bass is rather versatile. It took some time to get used to the frets 'poking out' though. I only heard about fretless bass guitars one month later...
