Ok guys, i dunnoe where i shuld put tis thread at. My com cannot record sounds. i dun even know why?? even if i record using mic nothing came out. well i did tried to record sounds from my computer. just cannot....... i did tried follow some of the settings at youtube but my just dun hav e streo thingy. is it bcoz of my soundcard or maybe my mic e input or output is spoilt???

Soundcard which i dunnoe i just know tat my default device is HD audio

Do you see the input meter moving when you speak into the microphone? After you recorded, do you see the waveform in Audition?

There are 2 things we need to establish here:

1. Is it hardware problem?
2. Is it software/user problem?

If you see the input meter responding to your signal, that means your hardware is working.

We can troubleshoot further.

dude, check ur volume settings. might be the microphone level low OR its muted..check it out. if it still doesnt work, then im not sure wat the problem is..

budakbone : just a side info, that brrr sound is the noise of your soundcard hehe.
anyway this should be up my alley :

1) Start>Settings > Control Panel > Sound And Audio Devices > [Audio]
Sound Playback : make sure it's your soundcard.as you've said HD Audio.
Sound Recording : same. HD Audio

[Volume]
tick "place icon in taskbar" (for convenience sake , this is your windows software Monitor MIXER)

click OK

2) you'll see the speaker appearing in your taskbar. double click on it, or click Start Run sndvol32.exe
click [Options > [Properties]
under Mixer Device : usually there's 1 soundcard listed or 1 soundcard with "input" or "output" listed. either way. when you're in this area, there's 2 sections to focus on : PLAYBACK and RECORD.
in any case under PLAYBACK or RECORD = make sure all's ticked.
now choose RECORD mode, and click OK

3) this one ranges from PC to PC. or laptop to laptop, just set all to 50% volume should be a safe bet. my side displays : CD Audio / Microphone / Wave Out Mix.

Microphone is duh "records your microphone input" , Advanced options would be a "Mic Boost" (higher gain, more noise, but louder). first try without it first.

Wave Out Mix (your side may show "What U Hear" or "Stereo Mix) is recording whatever your windows is currently playing. that means sounds like MSN "dings" and myspace streams can be "recorded" here.

you're recording audio from your mic, so ignore wave out mix. tick Microphone mode. don't close the window yet.

4) open adobe audition
Options > Device Properties
[Wave Out]
<SELECT YOUR SOUNDCARD OUTPUT>
tick "use this device in edit view"
click [Change] (you'll go under [Playback Devices])
under Unused Playback Devices , just leave your "Wave Mapper" there, if there's any.
under Multitrack Device Preference Order : Use >> your soundcard.
then select it and click [Use In EV]

click ok

go under [Wave In]
Repeat chorus.

5) now to test whether adobe audition can detect your mic picking up sounds. under EDIT VIEW , press F10 to monitor. you'll see the level meters bouncing up and down.if it's working, you can start recording already.

btw i use cool edit pro 2.0, but the settings direction should be very similar, I used since cool edit 96 version. they haven't really changed the "outlook" of the settings.

this should help. otherwise it's a hardware problem.

the first part....bluestudio. when u said tat check that e audio devise n e rcordign must be same??? one is audio aux and anoutheir audio rear output.........wat does tat mean

Dun know leh still cannot. My bro say e mic thingy spoiled.coz got one time i put in a cable and insert it to e headphone to the mic. Now wat i realise is tat when i insert the headphone into the input for headphone , it didn't work. But when i insert e headphone to the input for mic it works. But as for mic none of them works. I tried doing wat u told........but honestly i just dun understand.:D

"But when i insert e headphone to the input for mic it works"

by the way... works as a microphone?

well seriously man, sounds like either a hardware problem or a bad software configuration , that means you can't listen to mp3s on this computer right??

can, thru speakers???......

mayb i shuld rephrase that part

when i insert the headphone to the input for mics, it works. but when i put e headphone on the input for headphone,it won't work??

nvm lah.............thx alot blueprint... i quit. mayb i shuld just record it in my mp3. But well i might be getting a laptop if im able to get to poly. If laptop still cannot i quit being a musician.hehe

well man it's very hard to fix your problem without being there for myself, I don't know what to say haha, cos i'm too busy lately to drop by your place personally to take a look. I'll pm you.
