Hey Softies.

just need to noe,is there no more competition like sch of rock this year?
or even better,a soft band competition?
coz IMO,we need more competitions to get more viewers.
hmm...

wad do ya guys tink?

+100

there r many2 comps a yr. like asianbeat, battle of the bands, overdrive bla bla bla...
to me comp is not the time for me to get viewers, more to testing out how far we can go.

to go get viewers... IMO, is playing gigs maybe. depends on wat u play n how u sounds like, gd/bad. may it come from frds, other bands and the best, passer bys.

This year seems bleak in terms of comp hostings.

See how la, I mean after SOR last last year (is it?), 3dash1 are still relatively low profile aren't they? Only playing for local minor events/

Perhaps they wouldn't want a replay of that happening.

but bro... 2 questions,

does tis competitions promise u to be 'famous'?
And
do u join competitions and win them then hoping to be big?

hmm

lol
well imo if playing in a competition, its like we can atleast noe how well we fair in the scene.
but if winning, well tats bonus la.hahah famous has never crossed my mind
haha

I'm not sure if competitions give you an accurate gauge of how you fare in the scene. There's the very first question of 'which scene are you referring to?' Emocore? Indie scene? Postrock scene?

Competitions grade you based on the opinions of a few judges or the crowds reaction, but building up a name for yourself from scratch would be a completely different experience.

Haha, that's flat out lying lah...

"selling out" for $$$ is a good thing.

"selling out" is sooo overused. Even Rui "I'm emo like that" En says it on national TV.

its about the $$$$

I <3 Rui En... She's very perky :P

The concept of selling out is boring and so mid-90's. 90% of the international acts mentioned in this Internet forum has sold out some way or other. Otherwise, how you'd even get to know about them?

dude

well u noe how it is,if its an all genre com,it'll certinly help alot by show us wad 'scene' is hype, and wads not.but like i said, famous never been in my mind coz come on man, singapore is only starting to develope into a more open country, like in sports and stuff.if im werking my ass out just to be famous, den there no point in music.coz imo, music is all about sharing, and dude,if u tink tat i said ;famous never crossed my mind' and u tink im lying, den be it,hahah
judge me man,haha
No offence taken
coz i mean,i asked if there is no more gig,not bein famous, dude, lay off the negative side of urs man.
coz im like saying is tat if more viewers mean the music scene(ALL GENRE)
will kinda be better then the current state, like i said, winning is a bonus.and being famous is also a huge bonus bro,no offence

dun be hating dude,think positive
:P :P :P :P :P :P :P

Peace!

Shake the disease!

I'd love to be positive.

But what I've seen, read, heard and experienced myself so far is that in the music business (that includes gigs as well), it's all about the business. Hardly the music.

I'd like to dedicate this song "its all about the money" by Meja to you DGOs!

I wish all you DGOs all the best in your future endeavours!
