Yes, drumming is way harder than guitar IMO also.
But ilovegm is already going for lessons with Alfe. So he's good.
LOL. My coordination was good and steady till the double pedals came along. Wahahaha.
Evident: I know there are threads regarding double pedal techniques and I've tried digging them out. But some had error messages so well, thought I'd just ask you.
1) how do you strengthen the left foot? More on speed.
2) My left foot just CAN'T stop following the beat of my left hand. It's like whenever I hit with my left hand, the foot will do the same -_-"
ilovegm. u is have money for lesson bt nt for drum. I am have money for a cheap bt accetable drum bt not lesson. Currently i know nth abt music at all. And I have to self learn. Girlpants u selflearn rite? can teach me hw to self learn? and shd i get a drum set straight away?
hmmmm.. i have the passion. have the money and space for a drumset. and yea, same i would rather spent on intrument and nt lessons. mooreover, i dun have money for lessons. LOL.Yes I'm all self-taught, both the guitar and drums. I failed at self teaching myself the keyboard though. -_-" haha
I think one way to successfully teach yourself is to really have passion in that particular instrument. I don't think it has to be a long term one.
Honestly, I don't have any passion for drumming before. None. It just so happened that I sat down at my friend's set, hit the snare with my fingers and like, "whoa". From there on, I told myself I had to learn the drums. haha.
And self teaching, in my opinion, at this advanced world of ours is EASY. You have the internet; Soft, Google, YouTube, GuitarPro etc. I'm not trying to brag but it's really easy. It's a matter of effort.
Formal lessons however will stress on proper techniques right from the start. Even simple stuffs like how to hold the drumsticks - properly.
Self-teaching or formal lessons, either way's cool. I don't go for lessons simply because I would rather use the money to buy music stuffs. hahaha. But I am sending my little brother to MusicLab for drum lessons when he's ready.
About getting a drumset, I don't know man. I think it's not really about being a beginner or not. I think it's about whether you have space and money.![]()

haha. u might be pro in a short time. hahas. anyway, wad drum did u get?I chose to get lessons first, so couldn't afford a drum set cos I had to pay for lessons, although I bought a 2nd hand drum set already
I think self learning is okay too, but I abit too enthu, wanna learn drums properly and faster...
Now i noe speed of learning is based on individual, I suspect i'm slow, lol, eh i suddenly dun feel so lol liao, self-induced emo O.O
Anyway, I got scolded by neighbours already, was trying to push my luck and play the drums at 7pm...
Neighbour complained very noisy and not good to hear
Sob, I still noob rite...
I think i have a lot to learn from u, since u self-taught. hope u would guide me along. such like wad do i have to learn and practice for beginners like me and where do u learn them? haha thx lots
I mean tat, the pearl RT does nt have a floor tom rite, instead it has another tom. So total 3 tom instead of 2 tom and 1 flr tom. so yea, wad is the diff.Ahball: I got a pearl rt, eh wad u mean by tom tt replaces floor tom?
If u mean the floor tom of the rt, I dunno, it sounds bad compared to the other rt toms, I'm comparing the stuff to my teacher's drum kit
All rt toms only have one head, i think it makes them sound less rounded and boomy, lol, i dunno the lingo...
But cool cos can put hand inside to feel the pressure wave when u hit them
And the stock cymbals are awful, actually my noobie ears still feel that the crash is so-so, but the hihat sounds hollow and annoying...
Cr.drums: Lol, must thick skin like me, ask untill they lazy to object one day then chiong go out and return home with drums!
lol. bt u started for beginner urself like me. so u noe wad to learn when first time having contact wit drum. shd i buy a drum set yet or just practice on table?Learn from me???????
And do you know who I learn from?? I learn from youtube and the drummers in soft leh. hahaha.
You can just bombard questions to the drum softies here cos they are really really really friendly. And I learnt a lot from ComposerofRequiems, a fellow softie.
ilovegm: Your neighbours yaya lah. Just tell them that there's this 10am to 10pm rule. My neighbours never complain, yet i think. hahaha

hmmm.. i see. thx a lotAbout getting a drumset or not really depends on individual. Like I said, space, money or even parent's permission etc.
I bought my set at Yamaha simply because i have a 10% discount there. And i really knew nothing about drums stuffs then.
But I have since "upgraded" and still "upgrading" my set now; ie, change of cymbals, stands, skins cos I really hated the stock items. hahaha
Am now saving for a new snare!!
So in my opinion, "upgrading" actually cost a lot more than the price of the drums itself. In my opinion lah. Doesn't mean that once you got a set and that's it, it's done. No no no no.
Drumset is something like a girlfriend. You need to get "gifts" or "accessories" for them.![]()
"Practice on a table" - hahaha. This you gotta ask ilovegm cos he practice on a table tennis bat.![]()
