New or second hand?

Would you guys prefer buying gears which are new or second hand? Lets state some pros and cons of the both of it, whether its a new gear or a used one.

For me I think I prefer new ones. Cos' I always think 2nd hand gears, I have no idea who used it before...

But I've got no choice since I can't afford new gears all the time!

second hand... cheap price and seasoned quality... but u do occasionally get the dodgy piece of gear...

i would have to say brand new gears and guitars. i mean, who doesnt want them?? everybody wants new stuff for themselves.

but due to the outrageous (yeah lah im kiasu like all of you) prices on brand new gear i would have to buy from the 2nd hand market since prices are lowered and you even bargain for a lower price still.
