is there any specific guide that teaches you how to control your fretting fingers?
sometimes like mess up liao cannot go other frets. then stuck there :(

For a start, memorise the chords in the song you're learning now (look them up on the internet if you're not sure of the fingerings) and practice changing chords smoothly and strumming (so you can hear all the notes in the chord). Start really slow! Key is practice. Play everyday! 1hr, 2hr, 30 mins, doesn't matter, as long as you practice everyday!

heres my few cents worth!

when i started out at yamaha, i din like the way they taught, so i quit after 3 to 5 months! they din teach chords 1st but instead went into single string plucking and so forth yada yada yada!!!

Low down ... learn some basic chords, memo them not by hard, but by the fingering and position, once u can get afew down, try mixing them arnd by changing to timing and tempo! tis will help some creativity along the way!

try creating some stuff with what u newly learnt, tis way i wont forget it! as learning progresses in due time,

the sky isn't the limit, ..... :P

Happy learning!

when I first started it was just chord changing to make the fingers more flexible lor. E D C A G E D C A G E, again and again.

The thing with guitar playing is that learning -anything- new will be very stiff and unfamiliar at first, and you'll be very much tempted to give up, and especially if you're experienced, you'll be tempted to go back into doing some pattern or fingering that you already know. If you manage to break past this then it becomes smooth going.

thanks appreciate all replies.

seems like learning the chords most important while honestly, i dont know what it means. I mean on the whole, 'learn chords' & 'get more used to it'. What does it mean?

Any majority went through a lesson or so online by any forms, text videos and so on.
Like to know one that really have helped. I've only been to those on ultimate-guitar

learn a song, some simple 3 or 4 chords songs (most rock and roll songs only require 3 chords - A, D, E chords) do em simple, then do em barred ... just the rhythm part ... get use to the chords and all, let it build into you and becomes your 2nd nature, then your fingers will b more flexible and seem to have a mind of it's own. also take note of your strumming hand, how u strum, beat/tempo, updown stroke ... this is more of beginner stage ...

hope that helps :D

hmm i think you should consider lessons... one to one lessons... quite a few softies giving guitar lessons. Your progress will be turbocharged. i believe they all can guide you in the know how of your guitar's parts and stuff as well.

i would suggest you dont learn the song first. instead keep practising with the major chords until your finger are use to pressing the fretboard and changing fast enough from 1 chord to another. Although it can be very boring, but thats the process you have to go thru in order to improve. All of us have been thru it, i believe you can too. Dont give up yo
