pearl rhythm traveller: http://sweelee.com.sg/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=2_19_55&products_id=640

ranking sports & music (bras basah) should also have pdp chameleon, similiar to the rhythm traveller though with double-headed? toms, but last heard of it online here months ago

electronic alternatives, ranking has a medeli kit for either 690 or 990, but w/o throne, and in my thread labelled 'trying double pedals' someone [paiseh, forgot who] said its plastic surface and lack of good quality samples doesn't make it a strong contender; your call though.

yamaha's rydeen kit, not sure if its affordable after discount and whether they even have it nowadays, yeah ..

hope that helps, and maybe if others have some more that i forgot abt, add here lo, heh\

edit: whoops, forgot pearl's Target and Forum kits. kinda slipped my mind.
pdp should have other relatively affordable entry-level stuff too,
but don't bother with carlos unless you're not really sure that you're gonna stay in this line? then again bad workmanship can put a player off. carlos' hardware and such don't really hold up well, or so i've heard.

Yup, if it can use a normal pedal it can also use a double pedal.

Anyway, I think Target is quite a good entry kit. I have one; it's only slightly more expensive than the Pearl Rhythm Traveller but much better quality I think. With stock heads can't really compare lah, but if you upgrade to good skins it sounds quite decent.

if so can you tell me which double pedal is better?and i heard thaat the Pearl Target has stopped manufacturing so where can i find one now?sorry for asking so much questions..

<<<Hey i was wondering which drumset would be better for a beginner like me.. a Pearl Target/ Forum / Peace Legion.
If there is any other entry level drumsets can you please tell me?thanks >>>

Carlos drumset is definitely out from the $500+ to $600+ range. A lot of hardware problem. Peace Legion and Demolition is the best buy (if you know where to buy) for price to quality ratio. You may want to come over to my place to try the Demolition set and test the 100+ collection of cymbals. We can talk over coffee to weigh the pros and the cons on the recommendations before you come to a decision :)

Hmm I think Sweelee still has stock of it. Which double pedal is better is very hard to say. Play with single pedal first lah! Then slowly try different doublepedals and wait before deciding.

You need to factor in the fact that there will be a good chance you might give up drumming in 6 months times. So instead of blowing your precious saving on a extremely low budget $600-1000 brand new kit and then selling it away at a even lower price, you might want to consider buying a reasonably good USED kit from soft.com.sg.

Before you decide on which drums to get, you need to consider space and noise. If you have space and noise limitation, try to get yourself a smaller kit, e.g. 4 pcs set up with smaller size. remember the bigger the diameter, the louder it gets.

Cymbals are really expensive investment and not tunable like drums, hence for beginners, I would recommend you to get a used cheap entry level cymbals for practising first and get better ones after you have decided the sounds your want for your setup. thats if you are still drumming of course..:)

good luck for your search!

i'm going down to swee lee(bras basah) and ranking sports and music tomorrow to take a look. btw, anyone knows how to go to the swee lee warehouse at 150 sims drive?

take mrt to aljunied station. drop there, exit station on the right side upon going through the gantry(tapping your ez link card). then walk along aljunied road until you come to a cross junction that links up with sims drive. walk down sims drive until you reach a T junction, turn right and follow the road. you'll see it soon enough. If you are not sure, I helped you out with the map: http://gothere.sg/directions#:150 sims drive

i also recommend buying 2nd hand drumsets. as long as the wrapping of de drum hasnt come out n with a little polish it will look brand new. or u could juz do away practising with a practise pad or even on ur bed if ur nt sure if u wanna stay on this line. im sure many drummers dont own a kit until dey have played on their beds or pads for about 1 or 2 yrs. I myself bought my kit after 1 yr of playin.

i play drummania ;x i got practice my strokes and all those at home.and i recently learnt blast beat from a drummer friend of mine.haha.anyway i just went to swee lee(bras basah) yesterday and the pearl target tgc625c#33 was $960 and the set includes a snare stand,hi hat stand,1 cymbal stand, single bass pedal, drum throne,14 inch hi hats and 16 inch cymbals.while the rhythm traveller rt705hcc#33 cost 800.it includes a snare stand,hi hat stand, 1 cymbal stand, single bass pedal,13 inch hi hat,16 inch crash, side cymbal, mesh head and cymbal pad.both have drums of course and the RT i think the cymbals is choose one.so i think i should buy a second hand one since its quite expensive.

Wah the price went up again =O and I thought that sweelee markup used to be bad.

Haha if you can wait then wait until end of year halfprice sale! Otherwise go bargain down the price if you want a new one. The $960 is it on the price tag, or did you ask the salespeople, or what? Because sometimes they'll display the price, but if you're a serious buyer they may give it up to 20% lower or so (can't remember exactly, since I went to get sweelee membership some time back, but I bought my kit before that. It was about 800+ but they gave me 700+ for it)

WHAT?HALF PRICE SALE?you mean everything 50% and more?thats sick!hahaha.yeah i saw it at the price tag. i'm afraid of the staff.they all look so fierce to me ;x i'm gonna save very hard now heh heh.but how many sales does swee lee have a year and how many percent discount usually?

Haha twice a year. The queues are sick too. So you would want to go early to queue and stuff. It's "storewide half price", but not everything might be on display.

Hmm you went to the aljunied branch? Haven't been there for very long... there's one guy who used to be a drum technician, he's a very nice guy and quite knowledgeable I think. Actually most of them are quite nice also lah. Next time you go then just ask.

i went to bras basah one.i only know got 1 old malay uncle quite friendly.wear specs one.long hair.quite good service.i went there buy my drumsticks and he tell me which one good.hahaha.then the dates are fixed or what?and how will i know if there will be a sale going on?

haha.. sweelee enjoys marking up.. haha damn lame.. ok anybody who goes sweelee is entitled 20% discount on normal days. you have to ask then they will give you. sales gimmick.

and as for the 50% sale. its at least twice a year. mid year and end of year. yea. so yup many people go there grab. so sometimes they keep stock or something la. i not very sure. but if you could wait. why not? but they dun like have all items for sale. but i think target they should have ba. yup yup..

then how do i tell them to give 20% discount?haha.and any specific dates of the sale?and should i go the warehouse or the bras basah branch during the sale?

tama!

if you could top up a little more, go get a tama drums set. u can never go wrong... durable hardware that would really last for years, and you dont have to worry about replacing them in the future. been a pro drummer for years...tama drums just wont let you down. of course there are other good brands like DW, etc. but tama has the most reasonable price compared to those other brands. keep rockin'!
