Hi bros,

thinking of investing in a Wah pedal... problem is i dont know much about wahs and the diff wah pedals thats available in the market.. What should one typically look for in terms of spec or sound..?

Depends on what you like.you should try out at their shop, try out different pedals starting from the famous ones to the not so well known brands.famous/well known : boss, etc.

I won't say that boss is a famous brand for wah pedals..

Wah pedals generally comes in two forms, with an on/off switch (Dunlop), or switchless (Morley / Ibanez). I myself cannot get used to the on/off switch of the wah pedals, so I use a switchless morley

Try out:
Dunlop Crybaby (any with a switch: standard, slash, dimebag, etc)
Morley (any switchless) / Ibanez weeping demon

sound wise some are milder, good for sutle low gain playing, but might literally have no effect for high gain. some can cut through high gain very well, but their tone range might be too extreme for subtle stuff. Just try some or browse the youtube for samples

get one to try it out. from there, experiment. the VOX V485/487 are nicely priced wahs that are good starting wahs. Then from there on you can try the Morley/Dunlop stuff.

I'm stuck on the Morley wah, for now.

thanks for all the advie guys..didnt know theres a switchless wah haha.. The vox looks pretty cheap and sounds decent too from what i hear on Youtube.. guess have to check out at Penin and city music to know better..

Now im torn between Dunlop's Cry Baby standard and Vox 847..they both seem to be a pretty decent entry level wah..

I see that you have been bitten by G.A.S. XD

here is one thing you can try to decide the winner: borrow from the shop / bring along your own distortion pedal with a sound (gain, tone) you typically use. connect the signal for example

guitar >> wah >> distortion >> amp

and see which of the two is more musical to your ears

happy shopping!
