Need Help. Guitar paintjob/refinishing.

Hello fellow Softies.

I intend to refinish my P bass, its currently a 3 Tone Sunburst, thinking of getting it done in Creamy White or "Olympic White" as they call it in the Fender catalog. Just recently, I went down to GuitarConnection to inquire about it and they quote me a price of $400SGD. Costs quite a bomb to me, went dizzy after I heard how much it would cost. I don't know of any other shops that offer the service. I hope you, the good people of Soft.com, could help me out abit. Do share if you know of shops or friends that offer such services. Thank you.

haha, diy abit too risky for a 1st timer dont u think, especially on a p bass..haha.. i only tried on a samick strat and screwed it up already..

Why not swap the body??
Seriously you can't achive Fender type paint job locally.
Automotive paint and resin is not for wood and has a certain masking to the tone...this from my experience eventho i had it one thin coat....it's heavy.
Futhermore that Fender 'cream' white is a custom mix ...you can get close tho.
Having your fender painted with non standard paint depreciates value too.

$400 for the paint job they use nitrocellulose lac or synthetic paint? Both have very close texture.
