Need Advice from Guitar Heroes here....

I had been playing guitar for like couples of years but believe it or not, I can't play solos..... Even Simple Plan solo like "Shut Up", I had a difficult time playing it.... Can you guys advice me how do I play solo good or maybe play them like Ray Toro someday.... Your advices will be pretty much appreciated....

I need to see how u play 1st, how about posting a video? by the way I'm not a guitar hero or any way associated with it, i'm just a noob guitarist learning day by day how to play but well can share my experience of course

a solo isn't something definite, i deem it as a punctuation in a song. you solo better if it's something you put together yourself as opposed to picking up someone else's ideas. you can incorporate the technique but the ultimate product should be your original output.

I didn't seems to practice it everyday... Now I try to at least have the guitar playing abt an 40 mins at least..

looks pretty ok to me, not really the electric solo i expected, more of riffs. it's a good idea to start out at a lower consistent speed first rather than rush through a difficult part with uneven tempo. if you can invest in a metronome, that would be a good place to start, set the tempo slow and practise a few times before increasing the speed lil by lil

when i started out, i virtually shut myself out from the world- it's about getting as much practice time possible. i would sit through 4 - 5 hours of isolated practice & didn't give a hoot what happened because i know the world would still spin regardless if i have anything to do with it... i used to worry i'm not good enough. it's not like that now. it's about hearing my ideas playing in my head & turning them into reality however simple/ complex they might be. i feel that i've accomplished something because i can whistle my ideas & play them on guitar simultaneously

Madwerewolfboy: Ermm... I guess that's kinda subjective... Compare to my friends, they are seriously damn good. Most of my friends make it that far in their band like West Grand Boulevard and The Fire Fight.... I wish to be able to play like them too.....

Subversion: I guess you must be pretty good to be able to play something from your head to reality... How I wish I could do that....

I think the blink 182 song is your left hand fretting , hold it down longer so the note won't cut off, practice how to play smooth ah slow down make sure 1 note connects to another and don't break up. Then you might ask how slow to play. For me I say think of the note, think of the sound then u play that note. Do not play faster than u think

My advice: PRACTICE!!!!
You can not expect to be good at something if you don't put the time.

Doesn't have to be 10h every day, but can not be 40min of noodling either.

hey bro not bad really. u do utilize ur pinky, which is good, unlike me where i started to use my pinky quite late.

but i notice ur pinky isnt quite strong yet, thats where the dead "tk tk tk" sounds come out. try play note by note, hear if the note rings out instead of the "tk tk" sound.

things to do:
strengthen ur pinky
play note by note to hear if they ring out instead of tk tk sound
play slower first to make sure ur right hand is the same speed as ur left then increase the speed little by little

edit: oh yes, ur fretting finger, try putting it towards the fretwire to your right. rings out easier.

I was like u, when I started out, playing guitar 4-5hrs maybe more. After that I realize that i could only play guitar nothing else and that's a very bad thing.

The Unknown: Thanks for the advice.. Ya I feel that my pinky finger is weak... Is there any tips for me to strengthen it? Oh I dun really get the last part you say about the fretting finger. I hope U can let me know in a simple way... Your advice are much appreciated...

Liar.... You will always say this to me in msn because u cant pressurize me to sell album... And becoz u give me high demands that if u cant get 10k, you wont commit... Why do u hurt me? And you need to hide me from your mother.. Now ur giving this dude an advice?

You think you're a guitar hero? When ur already a rock star, dont forget that you use to hide me from your mother. But i helped you get a job in Juz music. U have forgotten that i come to church with u, but asking favor from u to go with me, u say i dont want to waste time...up until now u still need to hide me from your mother. Ive wasted 2 yrs of my time to be loyal but then i wont still wont achieve ur demands of 10k coz its impossible. When ur a guitar hero and people and girls flock to u... Would u still remember me, the person u need to hide from ur mother thats why i cant come to ur house...
