Name a few things you play when you pick up your guitar

I ususally play the intro for The Space For This and The Eagle Nature by Cynic.

Lack of Comprehension by Death.

I will throw a tantrum, crash the guitar into the wall, creating the best sound effect one can ever have

I'd play Heart of life - John Mayer. Check for tuning sometimes.

Haha, need to listen to more music...

But I would also practise my minor pentatonic scales and blues scales along the neck for stretching.

Then on, it is just mostly exploring kinda blindly...:p Still a newbie.

RE

Power Chords,
I still suck at sweep/alternate (those hard to nail stuff)
So, power chords(nirvana, offspring, greenday, burce springsteen:mrgreen:) then tuning then mess around with scales.....
thats it...
Sometimes attempt to do covers but never put 100% of heart into it and thus dont sound too good....

then when bored, attempts to do LEADS..never sounded good..

SAME! minor pentatonic and the easy easy harmonic scale =) rock on man!

Silent Lucidity - Queensryche (refresh my picking)
Crying in the Rain - Whitesnake (testing my timing and muting)
Perfect Strangers - Deep Purple

Ha.. guess I am not as technical, but I do try.. Cheers!

solfiegietto for four finger stretching and warm up. also helps with fretboard travelling. start slow and slowly speed up.

toccata fugue for different technique practice....

then warm-down with doe-ray-mee and 1-2-3-4

~meh~

Somehow, though I don't play in a metal band, I always start off all my guitar sessions with my less than stellar guitar rendition of Paul Gilbert's Scarified. I'd run my fingers over the classical shred passage (at 0.5x speed) till I'm comfortably satisfied, then do the ho/po arpeggio lick that's supposed to go before the classical passage.

Then I'll play something like Green Tinted Sixties Mind by Mr Big.

=D

pros

All so pro man. i just pickup and start playing haha. But honestly im not that good at playing i cant even sweep haha

Well, first thing I do is check if the strings are nicely oiled & in tune. Haha!

Then I suppose it's string skipping appregio exercises, some scales & jazz licks.

Afterwhich, I'll just have some fun playing around with metal riffs (Maiden & Metallica), bits & pieces of solos, and then some slow/hard rock (and even some mat rock :p) plucking tunes! Basically fun stuff lar...
