my new guitar hardcase stinks !

hi guys, i bought this new skb guitar hard case and it stinks ! help !

it's kinda furry material inside and smells like some treatment chemical, mom describes it like shit smell.. any tips on how to remove the smell ? i've tried sunning it, not but its only helps abit

that odour is typical but the SKB isn't as strong smelling as the FREEDOM version- which one is yours?

there's a deodourizer spray available @ Swee Lee/ Davis if it really bothers you. what i did with mine- placed charcoal in there (without the guitar of course...) for a week then pandan leaves...

u can try putting a cup of green tea inside or soak a cloth in green tea and then squeeze dry a bit then wipe the inside of the case.

Hm for me, the smell has even 'stuck' to my guitar everytime I take it out to play but its not something I can't live with. And I don't think smell affects tone right? Else I really should be panicking!

throw 10 moth balls in, place a hungry hippo too for good measures, close the lid for the next 24 hours, and voila!

well, what i do is that i air the case for a couple of days, then chuck a couple of sneaker balls in my hardcase... you can get sneaker balls from any sports shop. it gets rid of most of the smell... but most hardcases will have the funky hardcase smell for a long long time... my '93 Les Paul hardcase and my '91 SG hardcase... both average 15 years already still got smell so... guess you got to get used to it!!

and no, the smell doesnt affect tone la. not unless you are eric johnson.

there's this packet dehumidifiers supermarket sells with a fragrance. the thirsty hippo ones dont help much. gota get those fragrance ones. it helped mine a lot. a hell lot.

ever stood beside a singer whos sweating madly with BO from hell?
yea, how you ever gonna concentrate on guitar playing without trying to cover your nose, and the coughing like mad from being choked on the BO at then wrong time?

sqoobs, hungry hippo also can reissue!? hungry hippo is neither guitar nor a pedal.

for me, i sprayed my perfume and in the end, it turns out that the fragrance of the perfume and the unpleasant smell of the hardcase blends together and gets another irritating pungent smell!

:smt018 don't learn from me. maybe i'll use subby's method to get rid of the smell.
