my guitars strings feel tighter than everyone elses

I notice, that whenever i play any other guitar, be in a shop, at a gig or a friends, the strings on the other guitar feel 'softer' and looser, you know.. more relaxed.

mine feel tighter and abit tougher.

How can this be, when they are both tuned the same, same guage strings..

really confuses me and i think i like the looser feel better becuase i can play thrash on it more easily.

Are the guitars the same scale length? A shorter scale makes the strings looser. Different brands of strings have different tension too. Slinkys are very loose (hence the name) so you might want to try them.

i have no idea, bought my axe second hand. it was properly set up - action and all that and cleaned just before i bought it.

doesnt matter what strings i use, same thing coz i rarely buy the same strings. im using the dimebag ones atm though.

Dimebag's DR signature? They have heavier bass strings for a set of 9s.

Its a sum of the parts...

Unless you tried the other guitar not only with same string guage and tuning, but with the same neck scale, same bridge system, same string brands and same setup.

i'm not that advanced shredcow, i have no idea what they mean lol. I just pick up a guitar and notice that it feels different :P

my old samick felt more heavy too...cudnt even play a chord properly without my finger's feeling pain immediately.
considering i played it without any problems on my yamaha pacifica

I guess different guitars just play differently. I am extremely used to my Ibanez RG, and i feel really uncomfortable playing my friends Fender Strat, string bending seems to require alot more effort

even on same type of guitar, same bridge, same gauge strings can feel different because tension is slightly different......string height and bridge/saddle height, string tree height and tuner post height can make a difference as well as the amount of bow in neck.

Tune down a step or 2 and see how it feels if changing string size doesn't work for you.......try 11's and tune down...great power and still playable without being superman!

Poorly made copies tend to have this problem as i have encountered a few. Compare length from contact point at the bridge to nut or the first fret of yours to other similar type guitar(eg same amount of frets).
If yours is a top end brand please check your tuner :D
