I've check out a few equipments here and there and i got my private CC peeps to help too but it won't be soon cause i've to plan all these things.
This is just my opinion, you guys might wana revise on it or something.
To save cost on the equipments, especially to exclude 'sound-proofing' the jamming room, we can go totally digital by having everything plugged in. Electronic drumset, together with guitars through DI boxes and mixers here and there whatever, we can roughly put our budget below $10K. But all of us will be jamming with headphones instead of live, open sound like normal jamming rooms which i think, is a minus point to everyone. I talked to some people who did this kind of things before and they said to just sound-proof one room can cost a minimum of $5K and it also depends on the area of the room and quality of sound-proof materials used.
Seriously, our capital for this CCA is outstanding. I'm beginning to think the SA's negative reactions once he hears what we're gona propose. But don't worry, i'm going to Swee Lee's this Wed with my guitarist to have some negotiations about the equipments.
Uhh God, help us!!!
Btw, any idea of when the SA officer gona meet us?
I've yet to prepare a proper proposal so at least help me estimate a due date or something.

i 2nd the idea of jamming with headphones. True that it will cost a lot to soundproof a room especially if the room is big and not on the first floor(i hope everyone knows what i mean on this point xD) Still everyone in this should really gather somewhere in school and talk about the proposal and maybe more brainstorming on soundproofing a room. Good proposal = higher chance of landing a spot for the CCA with the SA.
By the way, im from electronics, communications and computer engineering year 2, also in kendo.
I have actually been in a meeting with SA ppl. Mr Guru to be exact. Im not so sure about the criteria of starting this sort of CCA due to my poor memory =P, but i do remember that for martial arts stuff, theres this waiting list. So in the event a CCA dies, the CCA in the waiting list takes over. Thats for martial arts though, i seriously can't rmb if its the same case of clubs and societies but should keep this in mind if it really is the case. But same goes with all, we need a name list of all the people going for this CCA. If im not wrong, please clarify if i am, we need at least a list of 20-25.
As for the SA officer, someone will have to arrange the meeting with him/her.

Important news!!!
Next week Wednesday, i will hold another meeting, this time its really IMPORTANT!!! I've already receive the CCA form and i need all of your particulars together with your signatures.
ALL of you interested in the CCA will have to come down for the meeting. Our lecturer will be trying to grab hold of the SA officer at 4.30pm so we'll meet before that.
It will be 2pm, same place at Mcdonalds. For those of you who reached earlier, book our place so no one takes them away!! I'll be heading down at 3pm because i got class. You guys go ahead first and discuss some stuff like the benefits from the CCA to the school, the objectives and how will it be organise.
Oh ya one more thing, for those of you who already have a band outside NYP and have been on stage before - both underground scene and official ones like sharing stage with mediacorp artistes - please pm me your particulars directly together with your band name, event detail and a short intro about your experience. Don't be shy, this information can help us to form the CCA easier.
