Following the spririt of the title of the thread....I would like to know all the musicians here on SOFT..I know ur virtual ids but generally the ppl i dont know...

I'm Sid,studying at NTU...playing the guitar for 3 years ...living at NTU...VAI is my god.

hmm this should probably be in the intro thread but i wanna know everyone too...so nto really intro....

ps.anyone listen to frank gambale??

Well, you can buy a Behringer GDI100 (the one that comes with 4x12 stack sim?) and just go from there to your pc. It costs $60. Quick cheap fix. :)

I'm Daniel. Applying for local Unis. Played the guitar for close to 8 years.

Now, I suddenly feel like I'm getting old. 8 yrs?!

Just general discussion it be then. 8)

Eh, I would want to listen to some Gambale... but I'm so... ill disciplined when it comes to this listening thing. Same for my practicing. Hence the lack of ideas and chops! :(

Anyhow, anyhow heard Mattias Elkundh's take on Deep Purple's Smoke on the Water? It positively SMOKES!

woah....60$???is it a sound card...i thought i would wait for my salary and then buy the maudio delta 66..since i already have an spdif out on my gt-8 and i love m gt-8...ps i got evos on my ibanez too:D:D

Just listening to frank gambale now...in my opinion the best jazz guitarist to ever be born...

I guess I should get better recording gear some time too! All the treble that gets knocked off when I line out to laptop, its scary.

Hmmm.. Gabale is more fusion aye?

Is it my imagination or do i see initial sparks of romance building up between you two? Get a room already! Haha, kidding guys...

Heh. Its its just two like minded people into music conversing. Just so happens my passion (and frequently obsession, ugh, got to control) is music. :D

hehe nocturnus, there is always room for one more

Yea passion in music is just about the only thing i am sure of in life...hehe...
Ya gambale is jazz fusion....and he is godlike shredder .....i remember that one cd with alan holdsworth, frank gambale and shawn lane adn brett garsedd...enough to inspire and yet totally intimidate a guitarist...

oooo... that kind of concerts, would have been orgasmic to those who attended!

Hmmm... Shawn Lane... that guy, his shredding, is just over the term "shredding" . He is stunning.

Btw, I heard ppl comment that Gambale uses a lot of little sweeps in his playing?

oh yea...there was a cd released as well called MVP-most valuable players....

Shawn lane is insanely fast...i saw his power solos instructional on google...maddening....but he is so melodic....

Gambale uses only sweeppicking..NO ALTERNATE PICKING at all!! :D amazing eh...lots of articles abouthis playing...adn his sweeps arent the nromal neoclassical kinda sweeps...very varied..if u r a fan of rock guitar...of all teh jazz gutiarists he is the easiest to listen to....

hehe interesting...yea i get quite emotional in some songs...lemme see...
here are all teh songs that brought tears to my eyes....

November Rain
Dont Cry
for the love of god
lotus feet-shakti
black-PJ
a lot fo vai songs actually....

hehe and i dun sit and cry everytime...hehe...justthe first time.....

Vaiyen: u got it for 20 bucks:O??damn i need to find it..where is sembawang..I came to singapore for studies hehe so dunno places around......ps i am from India,my younger sister is a trained indian classical singer...so i have always been around indian music....studied in depth by both steve vai and shawn lane...and to an extent by joe satriani too....ofcourse marty friedman and jason becker also...

Shawn lane has so many shred patterns up his sleeves. Its scary. Just on pentatonics alone, bloody hell! 5 notes and he can do so much.

Gambale is the master of economy picking I heard. I've been an economy picker all along... i knew abt Gambale, but never checked him out. I should...
When I read up about alternate picking, and how it makes for easier string skipping, I started on an alt picking practice phase... however, i think its becoming detrimental to me. I find myself playing very standard, cliche and boring licks, over and over.

His mini sweeping thing... hmmm.. thats a good idea...

Man i have to check him out.

oh by the way its not a version of the song...but it is based on inspiration by the concept of lotus feet.....u can read about what lotus feet is on teh vai site in the the description of reflections....I will try and put up the version by shakti(john mclaughlin, zakir hussain, hariprasad chaurasia and s.balasubramanian) on some site and post the link over the weekened or somethig...
