hey anybody in that course in SP i mentioned? i would like to enquire about the requirements. im an ITE student..

is it a must to have o levels even when going for the joint admissions excercise??

Yes you need to have an O level certificate because it is a polytechnic.

There was a similar thread discussed here quite a number of months back , maybe you could do a search on it....

sorry if i actually opened another can of worms, but i cant find anything

i have aquired PSLE, GCE N levels and ill be getting my NITEC in DMD in november. is it possible that i can use these to appeal when all else fails in the JAE??

Hey dude, i think if you get a high GPA in NITEC you might be able to go, or else you'll have to first finish Higer Nitec and then make your way to that poly course. What course are you taking in the ITE?

hey bros, the course was mentioned in Channel U Y-plan,
the cut off point for o level is 12, quite high for a polytechnic course.

every year only 40 students admitted.

quite easy to get in bah. for ITE students, get GPA of 3.5 and above sure get in. or DAE and play an instrument. i know there are a few DMAT kids around here.

hey, im from the course. about the ite nitec cert, im not too sure abt it. but if u wanna go thru DAE, then u'll have to go thru auditions and seriously you have to be really good. cause thru dae, they will choose very little out of the many who apply. in my batch, i think only have about 5 who got thru auditions for the course. so yea, that's the only info i have. good luck mate.

hey blackducktape, hows the course? can you give us more info on it? haha.. and how did you get in? (you o levels/audition experience)

what are the auditions about?

the audition's basicly is just to show ur musical talent lah... like u can shred like mad or smth. its better if u can play more instruments and be good in all of them. im not really sure actually... but those who got thru the auditions who i know are very good at what they play....

ok. i got in thru olevels... the course is quite good actually and fun too. abt the course.. we have a few parts in the course lah. i'll just give a brief overview. firstly, there's a composition part. for that we have ear training, arranging, music theory, songwriting and some other stuff. then there's also the audio technology/recording part... that includes recording & mixing techniques, MIDI&synthesis and acoustical science. the last part is the business part. we learn communication skills for music professional, processes in asian music and business of music. there's also additional stuff like video recording/production and performance. i don't really know indepth what the modules will be like cause im still in year 1 but overall its a very balanced music course focussing for the names of the modules. hope thats helpful
