Mods to Valve Junior/Blackheart?

Hi all, I was wondering if any of our local techs are able to modify either the valve junior or the blackheart little giant. I'm having quite a lot of difficulty choosing one over the other, and i decided that the choosing factor would be what mods are available in singapore.

i was looking at the tri-something mod, which allows 3 different voicings in the amp...mainly the blackface, marshall and vox top boost voicings. there is also a tweed push/pull mod for the VJ if i'm not wrong. there's also available modifications for the output transformer and solid state rectifier.

so is there any tech who is able to get the items necessary for the above mods and mod the amps? and for what amp? currently i'm leaning more towards the valve junior since it has an open back cab and has more mods in the mean time. also, can you guys point me in the right direction as to who to approach for amp modifications?

thanks for the help.

Hi, I own a VJ Combo, which has been modded by Seekz Stompers (Trinity Mod). I'm clueless about electronics, so all I requested was for a brighter tone, more headroom before breakup, as well as for Seekz to repair some issues I was having with my amp.

I would highly recommend his services. It also helps that his shop is located at Coronation Plaza instead of in the East/Central like most other guitar shops.

Should you desire a specific mod that you find on some website, perhaps you could order the kit online and arrange for Seekz/Goose to mod it for you according to the schematics (should be included with the kit).

The best you can give a VJ/Black heart type is a bigger OT and the rest of the mod to follow.

But first you have to decide what you actually want.

Some have gone to the point of adding preamp tubes for more gain and then converting the single ended amp into a push pull with x2 output tubes.
I don't really see the point doin the extreme unless you are a solder jockey with lots of time to kill.
Seriously...i find tweaking amp, pedal, guitar just from information posted on the net without understanding will leave you clueless and frustrated.

Please tell your tech what you want...he/she/it will gladly get it done in a jiffy (provided he/she/it knows the shit) and then you can give it a spin for a week. ..followed by your feedback and if necessary get it tweaked to narrow it closer to what you want.

This weekend we have a VJ coming in to further mod (previously mod by another tech) since the owner has decided on what he actually wants....this will be of great help to us ...

Oh ya ...i find it ridiculous giving all these mods fancy names ....:???:

cheers :D

haha yes... was thinking of going the same route too with my blackheart...but nah i'd rather save up for a better amp..... Cant wait for Goose's amp :D

goose building amp? me want try... i feel damn sad, i actually wanted to try his seventheaven but the pedal alone cost more than my amp. so i'd rather save for a better amp and then get the pedal.
its pointless with a tons of effect and just a lanely 15W amp. i won't get the best out of the pedal.

Thank you for your kind words, Caleb!
Hope the amp serves you well.

I still accept jobs from people in the east though,
in fact these are the people that kept me going for
so long, the west side people are only starting to
take notice, lol.

Like what Goose said, its always much easier if the
client know what he/she wants, so the tech can
quickly narrow it down to your specific request.

As long as it suit your needs, the name of the mod
should have little to do with anything. Or does it

Goose mods, henceforth, shall always be named the mojo mods! Or mojo-maker if you feel like it!:mrgreen:
