Modding Epi Valve Junior !! MORE content added!

hey, you resistors look so neat (mine's like a rat's nest.. ) . did you glue them down? if you do, do make sure the glue is flame proof (okie... at least heat resistant) they do get hot as per all resistive attenuators. just check on them once in a while for the first week to make sure nothing goes wrong (quite unlikely)

suckasucks: valbee uses a few transistors/op-amp to boost the amp into high gain. while valve junior is a all tube path (2 stage pre-amp, so no matter how you mod, most likely needs pedal for high gain) get the valve junior from MusiciansFriend! a revised version is out!!

Yep I glued them down using some cement-like glue lol. Hopefully they hold up and don't crack or something. If they do then I'll probably use a glue gun (:

Oo I didn't know that.. Good info! And yeah, I do use pedals to really drive my amp.[/i]

^so you're saying if the boost isnt engaged then the opamps/trannies are still out of the signal path? making it a full tube circuitry? or would it just be a single stage with the 12ax7?

wish i could order, too bad i dont have paypal etc or know anyone who does..
would prefer a EL84/34 type amp to a 6L6 type..

^ IIRC, valbee has a transistor boost in clean channel, and another transistor to power the active tone stack. so even in clean channel, SS stuff is still in the circuit. on the other hand, for boost channel, it uses diode clipping to achieve the high gain.

i would say though, it doesn't make too much of difference since the POWER section is all tube. so you can still get real power tube distortion. and it would cost much more if a tube based tone stack/more gain stage is added.
