hi guys...

just wanna find out what do you think is a better choice......for the same price

1) MIM Fender Deluxe Players Stratocaster‏ with upgraded the pickups to Seymour Duncan hotrails, therefore all high-output and hum-cancelling. Plus there is a coil tap

or...

2) Fender '68 reissue Strat, Large headstock, Craft in Japan....STOCKED

really appreciate your help.

cheers!

If I were you, I'll get the CIJ cos I don't dig the hotrails sound. You definitely have to try both out yourself. See which you prefer especially the neck-feel and the tone of the guitar. Other things can be compromised such as changing electronics... Also why not save up for an american strat? It's definitely better in terms of tone and feel.

Coil tap for what man? Got humbuckers ah? Haha.. I'd go for the Japan SSS one.. (Assuming its SSS)
That's the fender sound, why change it? And generally I've seen better crafted Jap Fenders then Mexican ones.. Then again, it varies from guitar to guitar so ultimately, its up to you man..

when it comes to 'Fender', you should hear it for what it's famed for- single coil tones. if you dislike what you hear, only then should you proceed to swap the pickups.

thanks guys..... looks like i'll be saving the money for an american one haha...

by the way...which MIA would you recommend? Standard strat?

What's your budget?
What kind of tone are you looking for?
What kind of genre will you be playing?

A little funny leh.. You ask about MIM and CIJ, then end up wanting MIA??

haha......the thing is...i was thinking of trading my edwards les paul for either a cij strat or a mim strat modded.

but after hearing what you guys say, i might just wait to sell it and buy a mia strat.

budget is around 1.7k

though i'm willingly to pay around 1.7-2k......................but if i can find a mij which cost half or less than half of a mia, do you think its worth it?

Coil tap can be reinstalled for a super cheap price. No biggie. THe only MIM model worth buying is actually the Classic Player's Strat, which is speced and designed by the Custom Shop team. Unfortunately, Swee Lee doesn't bring this in.

For the same price, I'd just buy a MIJ and mod it. The construction quality for the MIJs are far better than the MIMs... Just make sure you choose the right one.

I used to own the ST68.

Great guitar... Totally love the super NARROW nut width... very comfortable. All it needed was a pup swap and a re-fret cos I hate the way Fender does vintage frets. Small tiny frets, and they lacquer OVER the frets somemore... might as well play fretless.

But this one is confirmed alder AND a steel block... Not zinc... It's under the Craft Premium range...
