Metal Muff , Line 6

wah fauxhawk very pro la always post pro things.

For newbies, it REALLY doesn't matter what gear you have. You don't NEED 'GOOD' gear because you can't make them sound 'GOOD' YET. I played non-impressive equipments before and they DIDN'T sound good. I wondered what was wrong. I could only blame my technique because I had no idea about what are good amps or good guitars. Practiced practiced and practiced, and I got things sounding better and better.

All these 'is Marshall/Mesa/Line 6/blabla suitable for me?' coming from newbies, no good la I think.

Technique noob + pro equipments = bad
Technique pro + noob equipments = good
Technique pro + pro equipments = wah enjoy!

:D

Lol pro things. -.-

No, my amp is f-ed up already. Currently, I have an SX Amp probably 10 watt and its spoiled suddenly. About a few days ago I practiced and after that I turned it off and then suddenly there's this loud "boom" sound. I turned it back on and no sound came out of it. Now I need another amp and I want modelling one. Line 6 SPIDER III and VOX Pathfinder 15R are modelling amps and heard its for noobs like me and its a good practice amp. Thats why I have my eyes on em'. I have an offer from someone selling a Line 6 Spider III 15 watt for $80 and he used it for only 5 months. And according to him, its not spoiled. =D

the AC4TV is 300 only. I don't think 300 is too expensive...

It's not what you think , 300 to some people may be a third of their monthly income and hence a huge sum of money , where as 3k to someone else maybe considered "spare change" .

some people are willing to spend hundreds on their gear , some thousands . Different perspectives kid . I think 4k is a decent amount to spend on a guitar , others think I'm mad , but too bad , its my money .

zax: as in, this guy said tube amps too expensive.. then i replied ac4tv is 300... for tube amps, it is not too expensive..

i already have gotten myself a Metal Muff from the Buy/Sell Forum. used it with my Spider III 15x, Sounds good. dont know why you guys say it would sound like shit. or maybe its becuase I have been using its ''lousy'' built in distortion since day 1.
But have to agree with the ''techinique pro + noob equiptment = bad'' i listen to metal and punk rock. so basically i can only play punk rock songs , a few metal licks here and there. the pedal sounds really ''metally'' IMO. Dosent really suite the punk rock genre.

Well if you think it sounds good, then great for you i guess. No one is saying you cant use pedals with modelling amps but from my opinion especially line 6 amps the tone always sounds "stuck" and compressed and it colours the sound of your pedal and adds this digital edge.

I dint have a very good experience using line 6 amps cos my band used them for a gig once (the stack versions) and they sounded really bad with my pedalboard setup. After that experience i've been avoiding spider amps like the plague. You can do a search on the forum, the issue of using modelling amps with pedals has been discussed by quite a few guys here.

simply because of this:

what one percieves of something might be different from someone else. so everyone can tell u its crap but if u like it, then good for u!

this is why, when you guys ask for advise, the best thing for u to do is go hear it for yourself! i really really hope u guys understand this.

I think what is important isn't so much about having a good tone but rather knowing when your tone is bad.

haha agreed, mine wasnt bad, but say lacking in some ways, im sure you've had this feeling before. well the quest for the perfect tone never ends (:
