im not gonna get into the argument, just wanna point out something that peeves me often(paiseh ah, not specifically picking on cloudsky):

Singapore seems to be the only place in the world where the words "slang" and "accent" can get confused.

A slang is the "personalised" language of an area, eg. singapore's slang is Singlish, it contains words like lah, lor, wah lau eh..etc., or australian slang contains phrases like g'day mate, fair dinkum..etc. ..u get the idea

An accent is the way the words are being vocalised, it includes the tone and pronounciation of words. So in this case, you were probably referring to the ang moh accent(probably american), rather than some ang moh slang.
