Met some freaks..

Ok here goes(everything happened today):

First freak

I was at swee lee branch at Bras Brasah at around 3.00++ trying some electric guitars when that dude walked in again. He was singing loudly and making some dumb handsigns. He took off his sun glasses and I could see some ermm strips of black coming down from his eyes(like The Crow), he was saying something like this (in a very poser american rocker type of tone) " Yo, You guys got some Gibson guitars, we got a metal gig coming up in 6 weeks and we need some jammminng studio!". I quickly put back the guitars and walked out. While coming back from church service at The Rock, I saw him again at the city link, with his sun glasses and earphones in his ears doing some stupid hand actions(as usual).

By the way he was dressed in those jackets complete with bandana, stupid spikey braclets around his hand and belts and a pair of sun glasses, not to mention, stupid gothic type of eye makeup)

Second freak

My friend was working at sembawang music centre at Raffles City(his colleague is a gay and likes to slang when speaking to ang moh or chinese customers), and he saw this dude(plump guy) with potruding breasts. He was walking in a very-sissy like manner, he took out a cd to test it. While he was listening to it, he was dancing in a very para para sort of manner while brushing his hair and going"uh...uh...uuh" . On top of that he was singing very loudly.

Third freak

This one is not so freaky, its just that he's pretty old and has very large white afro sort of hair.

man...its ppl like these tat make s'pore a little less mundane...haha...

but yah, i'd be freaked out if i were u...~

freak...a.k.a ahbeng...the worst of the lot...
any way.. i guess we cant really called them freaks dude..even though they might look outta place, its ppl like this that keep us from going isane, a bit of comic relief where ever we look around...anyway,we shud let ppl wear wat the fuck they want..has our country come to such a situation that we judge ppl now on the clothes they wear n the way the look(oops hasnt it always been like that..DAMN!!)my 2 cents worth...

Let them be. Why care so much about them? Just let them sink deeper into their own materialistic world of facades. It's not our business to care really.

ok, please do not let this thread become an attack on how people dress or what their believe is. 8)

Yeah, everyone has their right to do things they want to do. As long as they dun steal, murder...etc It's certainly unfair and not very nice to label them as freaks.

Maybe you left out one freak, the one that has nothing better to do but to observes them and post silly comments on-line.

nah, they are freaks to you only.

its just your perception lah, anyone can be a freak if they think like you man...

So K.I.S.S is a freako band ? Its their own expression what...
i think we really need more individuality in singapore man...

Look at our society. Everything is so controlled, so uniformed... so regulated... So rigid... You've been school since pri 1 till your teirtiary yrs to think the way "THEY" want you to think...

Thats why Singapore is such a hard place to do music.
Thats why your sister is listening to Blue, Daniel Beddingfield... blah blah blah "POP"ular music....

yucks...

However if you want to make it big, you have to be made into something "POP"ular. Something that appeals to the masses. If you want an album, you have to go to the big 4 to sell yourself. And they will pull their strings and you'll be their puppet. Do not judge a book by it's cover.

Well.. I just said making music in singapore is hard. Nothing about making it it.

If you even harbour that thought, so sorry to burst your bubble rockstar...
You can NEVER EVER make it big in singapore. No matter how good you are.

THe stars here like sun yantze and the others are big because they are big in taiwan and china first...

And i bet they dont lack axe weilders or metalheads there...

You have already proved my previous post that singaporeans need more individuality...

So stereotypical. So materailistic. So practical.

You make music because you love it, you dont need the big4(whothe fuck are they anyway)

And because everyone thinks like you, all about trying to make it big. The local scene is like sucha selfish place. All the while its just a "every band for themselves" kinda thing.

i think i'll second that by seekz... although a slightly different argument.

i don't think bands should set targets to become as famous as say, Oasis, Nirvana, Jet, whatever etc. I don't think it's practical. Once u aim too high, and noting that a lot of things are out of ur reach, it becomes very exsaperating to grapple with the realities.

i think what is important for a band is for the members to enjoy themselves. making sure u like the stuff, rather than conforming, is more engaging, and i do think u perform better in such a situation.

local scene *may* be a selfish place. but i think it's better to turn to the more positive side of things. there are still people who will like ur songs in their rawest, and i think (at least for me) that is what matters most.

cheers :p

Lol. I dun dream to make it big. Jamming sessions to me are "chill out" sessions, meet and catch up. write songs for friends, family, loved ones. The occasional performance is for frenz...small functions....no $$ involved. :)

To each his own, there are no absolutes, but things are not easy as well. For me, think its hard to jump out of the corporate machine. During the day, it's still "slap on the tie, the suit and go to the office" for me. ;)

+1

And then you complain that singapore is to plain etc. At the end of the day, who is happier - the one who goes out does what he happy doing, wears and dresses like he wants, or the old man who bitches about how everyone slightly abnormal is a freak?
