Any fans of melodic death metal?
At The Gates best defines this genre. Influenced the likes of COB, Norther, and probably, Amon Amarth.

If you're a huge fan of this genre, and own a facebook account, come, support the Melodic Death Metal scene in this group:

GLOBAL MELODIC DEATH METAL

There's plenty of bands that is worth listening rather than the common ones.
Check out Darkemist from Chile. Kadavrik from Germany.

I used to listen to this genre.. Stuff like Arch Enemy, In Flames and Shadows Fall..
Lol.. But I was more into Power Metal at that time..

IN FLAMES!!!!!!!!!

lol, i don't really listened much to At the gates, though i do listen to a bit of Dark Tranquility

anyway, how does At the gates sound lyk?
i always though In Flames best define the genre till they went "mainstream"

The genre that seriously got me practising the guitar and tuning it to a standard C.

Pre-Clayman era In Flames were my absolute fav back then, along side the usual Arch Enemy, Dismember, At the Gates, Dark Tranquility, Soilwork, Ablaze My Sorrow, etc...

Its a pity that some of these bands have change their sound to be more "current".

Hm.... Example? The overrated Children of Bodom?

i enjoy bands like the black dahlia murder, at the gates, carcass, arch enemy, children of bodom and dark tranquility very much.

LONG LIVE MELODEATH!

Personally, my favourite melodeath bands are At The Gate, Norther, Arch Enemy and Dark Tranquillity. I think In Flames's Whoracle, At The Gate's Slaughter of The Soul, Dark Tranquillity's Character, COB's Hate Crew Deathroll are classics!

IMO In Flames sounded great all the way lah, juz that they became more individualised in their music over the years, smthg lyk playing what you want vs playing to a specific genre.
that's wat i felt bout that music lah, HAHA

oh, their farewell concert's the only album i listened to before, but still i think they're great, great lyrics, dunno why they disbanded, =[
