marshall jh-1

Ah... that was a lot of help eh? You must have non-existant tone. Don't worry, tany wouldn't listen to you.

I like the jh for its marshal in a box tone... there are better pedals of course, but you can't beat it for the price. I really love the marshal tone when it comes to distortion. Beautiful and vintage. :)

Btw, play with the mid freq knob.. its very interesting... it can make your low end sound totally fat and huge or make your treble stand out more, for cutting lead. Try it. ;)

Personally, I like my mid freq at 12oclock and mids at 2. heh. For a generic rhythm tone.

Hmmm... actually, was it called mid contour?

ooops... okay,
Mid Freq = Contour Freq
Mid = Contour.

Heh.

I owned one before... Used it for a while but went on to other things. :)

woo the jh-1 is superb!

i spent the morning trying to get my favourite tones, and i got up to 8 tones altogether! i'm sure there's more but these tones are a world of difference

i got 2 soft rock, 2 hard rock rhythms and got 4 lead tones SUPERB!

the quest continues... 8)

yeah! i'm loving my jackhammer too.. but so far i only got 2 of my fav tone. Heavy rhymth.. Hmm but how to get that lead guitar tone? it sounds a lil too heavy right? hmm i dont know. Share your setting!

Mine:

o/d, 12oclock for grain, treble and bass. 2oclock for freq and 10oclock for contour.

You know, it's very offensive to say that....though you might not like the tone, it's a tone all the same, it might be a sucky tone, but it's still a tone, and it's not nice to just assume he has non-existant tone...I think it's good if you apologised.

I mean, you don't see me goin' to your OM threads and say that your ideas sark and stuff right? Personally, I don't particular dig your style, but i appreciate your efforts to try and be different...and i respect that. I could go on and on though...just that i can't be bothered.

think about it, maybe Silk likes that tone...or maybe Silk was just tryin' to be funny.

So there.

Well, eadricng, I'm not going to apologize for my response to what was really a blatent, useless post. If you think that having all knobs (including your level/gain knobs) full on max, as having usable tone, then please, by all means, carry on. Btw, just try doing Silk's suggestion, just try it.

And you can go to my OMs and state what you think of it. Whether its bad in your opinion or not, I welcome it.

It is nice of you to take note of this though... Thoughtful of you.

I don't know about you shredcow, but from my point of view, it was very how to say...unprofessional to just comment like that...regardless of whateva man....

1st: you're actually in no position to just assume that his tone is non-existant, becuz it's sounds to me that you actually despise him or somethin', which is why i thought maybe you should apologise, becuz i seriously don't think he deserves to be despised for a post like that. *shrugz*

2nd: it was too harsh, maybe silk was only playin' around...was it his avatar?

3rd: I'm tryin' hard to think of a 3rd reason...maybe when i eventually think of it, i'll let you know... :D

So there.

btw, you wouldn't really wanna know what i've been talkin' about your posts...and what OTHERS have been talkin' about your stuff in OM :D

Cheers,

Both silk and shredcows' post were just tongue-in-cheek comments. I don't think any ill-intentions were ever meant. I doubt silk actually meant that. Take it easy there...

Um... Wait. What's wrong with turning all the knobs to the max? Maybe someone can give a good explaination to that?

turning everything to max, in normal musical context, usually means noisy, no tonal definiton, anyhow whack and seem like pretty amature to some

in term of sound manipulation using effects, turning everything to max could symbolise about the struggle of man machine and modern life
