Bro Dime, Donadoni kenna Red Card from the Italian FA - four days after the Italians got their pizzas trampled by the marauding Spanish Bull.

Lippi is currently the Italian manager. But he's got a two-year contract and runs out after WorldCup2010. That's about the same time as SAF will retire.

Lots of folks would rather someone take over SAF after serving as SAF's assistant rather than having someone come in fresh, without understanding the ManUnited philosophy and history. But there is a way around that and that is to have SAF serve in some role even after the 'freshy' comes in - just to ensure continuity.

get SAF to have a botox lah.he is certainly unreplaceable.

his success dates back to his aberdeen days.if CQ does succeed SAF i dont think he will last up to 10 seasons considering his age also.

Man Utd laugh-off latest Real-Ronaldo link

Manchester United have described latest reports claiming that a move by Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid is imminent as 'utter nonsense' and insisted that the Portuguese winger is not for sale.

Ronaldo is expected to undergo surgery on an ankle early next week after he was seen by a specialist today and may miss the start of the new season.

United, meanwhile, have been infuriated by a report today claiming that the 23-year-old will sign for Real within a matter of days.

A club spokesman said: 'It is utter nonsense and totally laughable. Cristiano Ronaldo is not for sale.'

Despite Ronaldo's desire to move and a huge fee of around £70million being on offer, United chiefs believe selling the player would cause huge disruption to the club.

Apart from the effect on the team's playing style and formation, it would also send a signal that United are in some way a lesser team than Real.

The Glazer family bought United because they viewed it as the biggest club in the world so they cannot afford to been seen as weaker than Real Madrid, one of their biggest European rivals, or in thrall to their star player.

The message chief executive David Gill has given to the Glazers is that if they stand firm on Ronaldo and neither sell him nor give him another big new contract then it will strike a major blow against player-power and have long-term future benefits for the club.

There is no real financial incentive to the Glazers either - the club's profits are already covering their debt repayments easily so there is no requirement to raise new capital.

If they considered selling him, United manager Sir Alex Ferguson would argue that he would need all the £70million fee as transfer funds to replace his most valuable player.

Confirmation of Ronaldo's operation comes after a specialist echoed the view of medical staff from both United and the Portuguese FA that the ankle injury needs surgery.

He could be out for up to six weeks, and could be out for the start of the season.

United leave for their tour of South Africa on July 18 but Ronaldo was not going on the trip anyway.

(any comments?)

My comment is to not make any comments.

Haha. The circus will continue until the season starts. Best to stay away from the circus until something is announced on the BBC. Lots of media vehicles are trying to sell their wares and speculating and even making outright false reports on Ronaldo sells, BIGTIME!

Lolz.........seriously speaking, Man U shld just sell Ronaldo. They don't need a player who has only half a heart for the club that matured him. Its a case of biting the hand that fed you. With that kinda money they cld get Aguero and maybe Messi with some spare change. If i had any sense, i'd jus sell. Let him waste away at RM. But speaking as a Liverpool fan, it'll be great if Ronaldo goes! No more diving and complaining and more importantly no more goals. And it's been entertaining following the news about this saga.

It would be kinda weird for him to play at MUTD after all this happenings. He has already shown he doesnt have 100% dedication at MUTD and in my opinion. the chances of him leaving is much higher than him staying..

But this is soccer and be prepared for the unexpected. I would miss the Ron-Rooney-Tevez trio if he leaves.

thats why Sir Alex snapped up Nani.these 2 guys are very very similar with Ronny being the more superior one.

because $$$ talks, it's very difficult to find dedicated players committed to their clubs. the reason why i respect this chap:

ole.jpg

Dime: problem with nani is that he tries TOO hard to be exactly like ronny. he shud find his own style. he already has a unique celebration.

yeah! power to ole, scholesy and giggsy! oh, expect scholes and giggs having lesser playing time. SAF, mentioned that before euro08.

I dunno, but Nani's waaaaay too action-kia, case in point being that match against West Ham last season where he hit Lucas Neill after trying a bicycle kick which was horribly executed. But power to Scholesy, Giggsy and Ole-sy, who'i have immense respect for.

AFAICR, Nani's first season has been more successful than Ronaldo's first season. Ronaldo was doing too many step-overs and getting nowhere. It was only in Ronaldo's 3rd and 4th season that he's really matured as a player - gotta give Nani more time. He's only what 20 or 21.

He might not have Ronaldo's speed and physical strengths but Nani seems to be more skillful with the ball.

He's going to get better as a player and mature as a human being.

Anderson is another young lad who's already shown what a legend in the making he's going to be. Only concern are his injuries. If he can stay fit, he's going to be awesome. In head-to-head battles with Fabregas and Gerard, he actually owned them!

As an aside, folks should look out for Argentina in the coming Olympics. They're sending an awesome team that's going to include Messi, Sergio Arguerro, Mascherano and Riquelme. They won the last Olympics without conceeding a goal! But I'm looking forward to some scintilating attacking football from them.

Solskjaer's Testimonial - 2nd August

OLE = LEGEND!

Big heart, smaller cajones. Great footballer! Ultimate professional!

Wednesday, 18 June 2008

He terrorised Premier League defenders for over a decade, now he has a different challenge to face – but none of it is as important to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as building schools in Africa.

After officially retiring from a knee injury 10 months ago, Solskjaer has now been given the job of reserve team manager at Manchester United by Sir Alex Ferguson.

But before those duties begin in earnest, Solskjaer will turn out at Old Trafford for one last time as United play host to Espanyol in his testimonial game.

It is the money the 35-year-old hopes to raise on 2 August which, as a father of three young children himself, Solskjaer will use to greater benefit than anything his career in football could hope to achieve.

"I went to Angola a few months ago and you could see clearly how much things were needed down there," he said.

"The aim through my testimonial is to try and build 10 schools. If I can generate more money through a scheme we have set up in Norway, maybe we can generate enough to build five more.

"As a father, I recognise how helpless these kids are. If it was my children, I would do absolutely anything for them, so it is more important for me to be remembered for helping these people than anything I have done with football.

"It is about building something concrete," Solskjaer added. "It is about changing lives, helping kids get out of the poverty they are in and helping them to become doctors or teachers and able to improve their own communities."

As a fairly private person, Solskjaer did think about keeping quiet about his plan. But he also recognised the benefit added publicity would bring.

"A lot of people worry about money from testimonials," he admitted. "I am certainly not complaining about what I made as a footballer. I just felt doing this was right."

With projects planned for Angola, Uganda and Mozambique, Solskjaer finds it hard to put a figure on exactly how much will be required. Each scheme costs between £30,000 and £150,000, meaning the Norwegian will have to sell most of the 76,000 available tickets for his testimonial.

Not that Solskjaer should have too much trouble. Rarely can a player have so captured the hearts of United's fans, who continued to sing his name during his lengthy stints on the treatment table.

Solskjaer's devotion to the club far outweighs his 1999 injury-time European Cup match-winner against Bayern Munich at the Nou Camp, a moment almost frozen in time as he flashed a shot into the roof of Oliver Kahn's net.

"My relationship with the fans has been absolutely fantastic since the first game I came on and no one knew who I was," he said. "The affection cannot only be down to that one goal. There has to be something they liked about me."

The birth of Solskjaer's third child prevented him from making the journey to Moscow last month as United finally added to their triumph of nine years ago by beating Chelsea. In penalty shoot-out hero Edwin van der Sar, Solskjaer finally has someone to share the limelight with.

"I rang Edwin and told him I was offering an invite to move next to me," he laughed. "I am happy for him but he is not the kind of person to let it affect him.

"He is a confident chap and I think he just wants to get on with his career and think about his successes when he has finished.

"Most of all, I am happy for the club. Nine [years] was long enough this time. We have to do it more and more."

I doubt that the game will be televised live here in SG. It looks like watching it online is the way to go. But there's no word yet on streams for the game. I'll post something if it does come up. Of course if anyone else has word on an onine stream for Ole's testimonial then by all means - PUT IT ON! WOOOOOOT!!!

Cantona to make sensational Man Utd return

Eric Cantona is seriously weighing up a sensational return to Manchester United.

The Sunday Express says Cantona is believed to be seriously considering Manchester United's long-standing offer to return to Old Trafford as a coach.

And with manager Sir Alex Ferguson in danger of losing his influential No2, Carlos Queiroz - wanted by Portugal to succeed Luiz Felipe Scolari - the Frenchman's emotional return would be perfect timing.

A close friend revealed: "Eric does fancy the idea of helping out with the coaching at a club like Manchester United.

"He has been enjoying himself appearing in and directing films and being involved in beach soccer but has always wanted to help produce a team in his style and knows that Sir Alex Ferguson would encourage him."

Striker Huntelaar says United are chasing him

Ajax striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar claims Manchester United are 'very interested' in signing him.

The 24-year-old's failure to agree a new contract at the Amsterdam ArenA has led to speculation he could be in line for a move, and the Holland frontman reckons the English champions are keen to acquire his services.

'I know certain English clubs are following me, like Manchester United, who are very interested in me,' he told Dutch reporters.

'I love clubs with great history like Ajax, I also love Manchester United.

'It's a club that makes me dream, especially as Ruud van Nistelrooy played there and did great things with them.
