Queiroz appointed as boss of Portugal
Manchester United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz has been appointed as the new head coach of Portugal.
Queiroz has agreed a four-year contract and is to be presented to the media on Wednesday.
The 53-year-old former Real Madrid coach will take full responsibility for all aspects of Portugal's national teams, including oversight of the youth teams.
He was previously coach of Portugal's Under-20 teams from 1990 to 1993.
'Carlos Queiroz is unquestionably one of the top Portuguese coaches and was my first choice to be head coach,' said Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) president Gilbert Madail.
'Although I have never worked with him because he was no longer with the national set-up when I arrived, I have followed his career with much interest and the experience he has gained in all the places he has worked will be important in helping us achieve the success we want.'

If the team the player is contracted to doesn't want to sell a player, any player, then they won't be putting a price on that player. The onus is and has always been for the interested buyer to make an UPFRONT approach, to put a price on the player that they want to buy.
Real Madrid has done nothing of that sort.
Me thinks Real Madrid, via Calderon the Moron, is trying to get Ronaldo on the cheap - refusing to make a proper approach and using their media friends and Sepp Blabber to stir the nest.
Ronaldo is replaceable. Make no mistake! If we can sell him for Euro 65 million, we can get Berbatov and a solid winger. Easy as that.
But until Real Madrid makes an official approach with an offer that makes sense then all this posturing is utter poppycock and lots of nonsensical blabbering!

Lolz...........to be honest guys........MU have been doing this to Berbatov too, only to a lesser extent. But i do agree, Madrid are going too far, if they want him jus bid 100 millions pounds lar, u got money right? And yes, Blatter and Platini are really anti-English, dunno wats their problem. Not like they are so good as to be able to condemn the English style of football. The global BPL audience speaks for itself, those 2 can take their comments and shove it. I think that the Huntelaar thing is a little overblown though, he's trying to tap up the club, instead of the other way around. Ayesteran to MU? No way, Cantona wld be a more probable arrival. And no, Van der Vaart says he wants to play either at Liverpool or Arsenal ( don't ask me why ) so those 2 are likely destinations. I hope he goes to the former, bcos that's where my allegiances lie, and anyway Arsenal have got Nasri and Ramsey, no need more creative midfielders. Probably the best replacement for Ronaldo will be a wing-foward, someone in the mould of former Liverpool man Luis Garcia.

And hell no to Luis Garcia. I rather SAF buys Senderos, pair him with O'Shea and make them his first choice central defensive pairing than get Luis Garcia.
