Schuster urges Real Madrid to dig deep for Ronaldo
Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster has urged his club to 'pay what is necessary' to take Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo to the Bernabeu.
United continue to insist the winger is not for sale, but with Ronaldo refusing to publicly commit to the European champions a move may be on the cards.
A world-record transfer fee of 100 million euros has been talked about and Schuster insists the Primera Liga champions must be ready to dig deep.
'For a player of his kind of level, we must pay what is necessary,' he told German television channel DSF.
'Because, for us what is most important is to win the Champions League and he can help us achieve that.'
United have reported the Spanish club to world governing body FIFA over what they consider to be attempts to unsettle the player.
And the Madrid boss admitted he would have behaved similarly with such a vital player as Ronaldo, who scored 42 goals in all competitions last season.
'When you have a player of such quality nobody wants to let him go,' he added.

i hope Ronaldo stays at Man Utd. gone are the days of one-club-man like Giggs.
Schuster should go look for people who actually want to leave their clubs, rather than go around unsettling players.

Benzema and Podolski sound like good options, but i think Man Utd needs a target man, who is skilled on his feet and is not injury prone, another van Nistelrooy style of player. though they did win the title and Champion's League without one. Rooney would be more effective playing behind someone else.

I'd be more than happy if Ronny goes. He's a pain in the arse. If he doesn't want to make a stand and commit to the club the first time this news came up, what makes you guys think he would now. He's unsettled and it, in turn, unsettles the other players.
Plus if Real Madrid really does pay that kind of money for him, why not?

Ronny should go but for no less than 60 million euros. The only reason he's scored that many goals is because Man United played most of last season without a proper striker. Real madrid want him for his image rights - same as they did with Beckham.
We should then get Berbatov and at least Schweinsteiger and/or Silva.
The end result is Man United will be stronger. That's alright as far as I'm concerned.

I'd be interested to who fergie is gonna by this close season.there are many young talents rising during the euro2008.some are Arda Turan*turkey*(great quality player),Ivan Rakitic*croatia*(potential replacement for ronny),Ibrahim Afellay*holland*(youth prospect),Andrei Arshavin*russia*(great playmaker and finisher).
defenders that has impressed me during this euro's are just namely Metzelder from Germany.no offence he kinda look like jesus.
Kovac from Croatia.no not Nicko Kovac.
Pepe from Portugal is quite impressive.actually he is a brazillian by right.

i dont really think united needs a new rightback.brown is playing at his peak since he signed a new deal.
what they need is a left back to cover poor Patrice Evra.maybe a player that can cover both for Evra and the recently departed Gerard Piquè.Philipp Lahm is a good buy.at 23 he can go far with United not to forget he is as small as Evra at 170cm but a tough kid to pass thru.
Not much is needed to do to the midfield.unless ronny leaves where nani or a new buy(robinho,rakitic) can cover but other than that the midfield looks solid.
